Transition

Instead of fearing change, use your faith to allow the Lord to lead you in leading change.

John 4:4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

Samaria was not a friendly place to Jews.  There were, in fact, feelings of hostility, even hatred between many Jews and the people of Samaria.  Yet Jesus, “must needs go through Samaria.”  Now note closely, the text does NOT say that Jesus “must needs go TO Samaria,” but “THROUGH Samaria.”  Allow me to be direct from the very beginning.  There are many places TO which the Lord can and will lead you in your lifetime.  Know that in these places, He has something for you to do that will honor and glorify Him.  But on your way TO where He leads you, there are likely just as many, if not MORE places, THROUGH which He will lead you on the way TO where He leads you.

Here’s an example.  When the Lord wanted me to go TO Tlaxcala, Mexico, I had to go THROUGH Charlotte, North Carolina, Mexico City and Puebla, Mexico, and Santa Ana Chiautempan, Mexico before I could get TO Tlaxcala, Mexico.  It is keenly important to the believer that he/she learn the difference in the places THROUGH which the Lord leads from the places TO which He leads.  We must be prepared to go to and leave the places THROUGH which we are led, and just as prepared to remain in the places TO which we are led.  And it is just as true that the Lord can lead you TO a place FROM which He can lead you TO another later.  My journey in ministry has been (thus far) teacher to prophet to pastor, and now apostle.  I remained in the role of pastor for 28 years, the last several of which were in direct preparation for an apostolic role that is now fully underway.  In life, in your walk with the Lord, expect change.  In fact, there is only one issue in which you should expect NO change, and that’s with God.  At the same time, the gauge for change should always be, “does this draw me closer to the Lord?”  If not, don’t move.  If it does, move, whether TO or THROUGH, MOVE!
