Nothing of Self

With all the authority and ability given us by the Lord, NONE of it comes from self, but ONLY through Him.

John 5:23 – That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father which hath sent Him.

My dear fellow believer, I beseech you in the Name of our Lord and Savior to open your eyes wide to the ability and authority placed within our grasp by our God.  I am convinced that there is NO natural man who is even close to understanding the kind and degree of ability and authority granted us through our relationship with the Lord.  But that in no way relinquishes us from the personal responsibility of seeking to know it, and even more, to walk in it.  This is far more than a RIGHT; it is our personal RESPONSIBILITY.

Take a moment and read our Text for Today once again.  Jesus is speaking of HONOR.  Pay close attention to His words.  Don’t add to them, but neither should we detract from them.  It IS the will of God for all men to honor Jesus, the Son.  And if you honor the Son, you honor the Father.  But if you DO NOT honor the Son, you don’t honor the Father.  Now PLEASE DON’T misunderstand my words.  Jesus is Lord; I am not.  But He is called “King of kings and Lord of lords.”  You and I are “kings and lords” over whom Jesus is both King and Lord.  In no way am I attempting to make of the believer anything above our estate as sons and heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.  Neither will I say anything to diminish that estate that has been provided us through the redemptive work of Jesus.  We ARE who He says we are, and it is time that we HONOR the Words of the Son, for if we HONOR His Words, we honor Him, and by the same token, if we DO NOT HONOR the Words of the Son, we do not honor Him.  If we honor the prophet, we shall receive the prophet’s reward.  Honor creates a partnership.  Honoring the divine creates a partnership with the divine.

Make no mistake about it; WE ARE TO HONOR JESUS, THE SON.  But neither should we make the mistake of thinking it is not important that we honor the sons who are joint-heirs with THE SON.  If we honor a son of God with proper, Biblical honor, then we are honoring the One Who sent that son.  And the One Who sent the son is THE SON.  And when we honor THE SON, we honor the Father.  Will we truly  honor THE SON?  Then let us honor one another, and NOT fail to accept honor when it is expressed to us as sons of God.  To accept that which is properly given is to properly honor the One Who sent you.  Are you God-sent?  Then receive that for which Father designed and purposed you, thus honoring THE SON.
