Execution of Life

Just because one is breathing, has a heart-beat, and is creating brain waves does not mean he lives.

John 5:26-27 – For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

_______________

Allow me to begin today with some reminders of what Jesus said.  He said, (1) as the Father has sent Me, even so send I you; (2) the glory You(Father) have given Me (Jesus), I have given them; (3) the works that I (Jesus) do shall you do also, and greater works than these shall you do; (4)you shall have whatsoever you say if you believe.  Now based upon these four statements alone, I can already make a righteous judgment of how the body of Christ, in general, is functioning in the earth.  It is a very low level of power, and in some places, almost non-existent.  That judgment is in no way intended to be destructive or damning to our Lord’s church.  It is merely a statement of current fact based on what I believe is a correct Biblical view of what the church, the body of Christ, SHOULD be in the earth.  While there are many other passages of Scripture that would bear out my judgment, what has been stated will surely suffice.

Now look at our Text for Today once again.  Father has life in Himself.  He exercised His divine authority and gave that same authority to Jesus.  Having given Jesus such divine authority, Jesus was also qualified by that same authority to execute judgment.  The judgment Jesus exercised was righteous judgment.  He was sent to condemn the world, but through righteous judgment make eternal life available to whosever will.  To those whom men judged harshly, Jesus showed mercy (Zacchaeus).  Those whom men would stone, Jesus raised up and freed (woman taken in adultery).  To those who denied Him, Jesus gave opportunity to repent and be restored (Peter).  All these are our Lord’s examples of righteous judgment.

Now to you and me.  We, too, are called upon to execute judgment.  How well are we doing at this divine directive for our lives?  It is time we stepped up to the cause into which we have been sent.  It is time for members of the body of Christ to judge righteous judgment; to see things as Jesus would see them; to speak for our God as our God; to fulfill the royal walk of love, not only to one another, but also to the world for whom Jesus paid the full price of redemption.  It is time we see one another as NEEDED, and the lost as NEEDY.  We NEED one another, and the lost NEEDSus to win them and disciple them.  When we fulfill our role given us by our God, we are truly EXECUTING LIFE.

Hear and Live

Just because a person is breathing does not mean he/she is alive.

John 5:25 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

____________________

Take a moment to read our Text for Today once more.  Having done so, we need to realize that the reference to “the dead” in this verse has nothing to do with physical death.  That will be addressed in John 5:28.  “The dead” to which this verse refers are those who are spiritually dead; that is, any person who is NOT BORN AGAIN.  Note closely the time frame referenced by the Lord.  “The hour is coming, and now is.”  Jesus is referring to a work in which He was actively engaged, as well as the work in which you and I should be actively engaged.  The work in which Jesus was actively engaged was in bringing covenant truth to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Those were the people of Israel who, having covenant, knew NOThow to walk in it, or knowing, chose NOT to walk in it.  That is the hour that “now is.”

But following His death, burial, resurrection, ascending, and enthroning, the New Covenant would be fully vested, not just for the lost sheep of the house of Israel, but to “whosever will,” and that included the Gentile, too.  That was the hour of which Jesus said it “is coming.”  That was the “hour” that began on the day of Pentecost when the church became a vested entity in the earth, and that same “hour” continues into the very seconds in which you and I live, and will continue until the coming of Jesus for His church.

The work of revealing the kingdom TO those in darkness, bringing TO them the message of reconciliation, and exercising our faith IN God’s promise to bring life to those who will hear, is today our primary work as sons and daughters of God.  Just as Father gave Adam and Eve a primary command to “be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth,” so we have a primary command to do the same thing by going into all the world and preaching the Gospel to every creature.  We speak, giving voice to the Word of God, Father is responsible to make sure our speaking is heard, and when our speaking gives voice to God’s Word, those who “hear shall live.”  That’s the Lord’s promise, and He will not fail to hasten His Word to perform it.

No Condemnation

New creatures in Christ are created by their Creator CONDEMNATION FREE.

John 5:24 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

I love the Word of God.  It is my life, my healing and health, my deliverance and freedom, my provision and prosperity, my victory and reward.  I love the Word of God.  I am so thankful that the matter of condemnation is clearly, distinctly, and definitely completely covered.  I have taken the time to study the line drawn through the Scriptures that set forth my freedom from condemnation.  Our Text for Today speaks so clearly to this wonderful truth.  When one is born again, when one has “passed from death unto life,” one “SHALL NOT COME INTO CONDEMNATION.”  I don’t see how that could be made any clearer.  Yet the Word speaks to this issue again and again with the life-giving breath of God.

Romans clearly states that for those who are IN Christ Jesus, “there is therefore NOW NO CONDEMNATION.”  It is Satan who is the author of condemnation, but even Satan himself CANNOT place condemnation on any believer who knows his/her place in covenant.  If the believer will allow the Word of God to stand true in every arena of his/her life, whenever judgment comes against him/her, he/she shall be “justified.”  Satan may bring it, but when one is fully justified in Christ, all condemnation must fall by the wayside.  And one of the key revelations that every believer should embrace is that of Matthew 12:37.  Jesus said, “By YOUR WORDS you shall be justified; by YOUR WORDS you shall be condemned.”  Please not where the current true power of justification or condemnation lies.  It flows from your mouth by the words you speak, and it rests in your heart, for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

So the question of condemnation is, in reality, settled in your heart.  What is in your heart in abundance?  Is it the truth of God’s Word, or is it the feelings, emotions, and evidences presented by the world about you?  Go to the Word, my friend.  See what Father, Son, and Holy Spirit say about you.  In Their saying, there is absolute agreement on words that are settled forever in heaven, words that cannot fail, words upon which you should meditate so you can observe to do all that is written in them, and then, have good success.

Nothing of Self

With all the authority and ability given us by the Lord, NONE of it comes from self, but ONLY through Him.

My dear fellow believer, I beseech you in the Name of our Lord and Savior to open your eyes wide to the ability and authority placed within our grasp by our God.  I am convinced that there is NO natural man who is even close to understanding the kind and degree of ability and authority granted us through our relationship with the Lord.  But that in no way relinquishes us from the personal responsibility of seeking to know it, and even more, to walk in it.  This is far more than a RIGHT; it is our personal RESPONSIBILITY.

Take a moment and read our Text for Today once again.  Jesus is speaking of HONOR.  Pay close attention to His words.  Don’t add to them, but neither should we detract from them.  It IS the will of God for all men to honor Jesus, the Son.  And if you honor the Son, you honor the Father.  But if you DO NOT honor the Son, you don’t honor the Father.  Now PLEASE DON’T misunderstand my words.  Jesus is Lord; I am not.  But He is called “King of kings and Lord of lords.”  You and I are “kings and lords” over whom Jesus is both King and Lord.  In no way am I attempting to make of the believer anything above our estate as sons and heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.  Neither will I say anything to diminish that estate that has been provided us through the redemptive work of Jesus.  We ARE who He says we are, and it is time that we HONOR the Words of the Son, for if we HONOR His Words, we honor Him, and by the same token, if we DO NOT HONOR the Words of the Son, we do not honor Him.  If we honor the prophet, we shall receive the prophet’s reward.  Honor creates a partnership.  Honoring the divine creates a partnership with the divine.

Make no mistake about it; WE ARE TO HONOR JESUS, THE SON.  But neither should we make the mistake of thinking it is not important that we honor the sons who are joint-heirs with THE SON.  If we honor a son of God with proper, Biblical honor, then we are honoring the One Who sent that son.  And the One Who sent the son is THE SON.  And when we honor THE SON, we honor the Father.  Will we truly  honor THE SON?  Then let us honor one another, and NOT fail to accept honor when it is expressed to us as sons of God.  To accept that which is properly given is to properly honor the One Who sent you.  Are you God-sent?  Then receive that for which Father designed and purposed you, thus honoring THE SON.

Judgement

Perhaps it is time for a fresh look at judgment.

_________________

John 5:22 – For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

__________________

When Jesus said, “All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth,” He meant “All power.”  The word “power” in the Matthew 28:18 passage is “exousia,” meaning “authority.”  When we see the word “authority,” we are seeing what might be pictured by the uniform and badge worn by a duly sworn law enforcement officer.  The badge he/she wears is a symbol of their authority to fulfill the responsibilities of their position.  Jesus said He had been given “all authority.” That means He had the right and responsibility to carry out His role of Lordship over the body of Christ wherever that body has the right and responsibility to exist.  That includes heaven AND earth.  That includes the power of judgment.  Think of that for a moment.  With “all power” being entrusted into the hands of Jesus, that means Father has relinquished into the hands of Jesus all power over His creation He had formerly held.  Of course, we know that Father, Son, and Holy Ghost all agree as one, and are in perfect unity in all things.  Therefore whatever judgment the Son brings is precisely the same judgment Father would bring.  Remember, Jesus said of Himself that He (the Son) could ONLY DOwhat He saw Father do.

But we should not stop at this transfer of power to Jesus. Because we are living under the New Covenant, we should carry that process to the conclusion explicitly expressed in the Scriptures.  Jesus said, “all power,” (all authority) had been given to Him in heaven and earth.  But then He adds that we are to “go into all the earth and” carry out that which He has given us to do.  For that purpose and to that end He gave us the power of attorney to use His Name, and He fully authorized us (His body) to do the works He did and even greater works.  As heirs of Father and joint-heirs with Christ, we carry, as His ambassadors, all the authority granted to Jesus.  However, for us to walk in that manifest authority, we must do it according to the pattern Jesus set forth.  Just as He could only do what He saw Father do, we must learn to walk with our God as Jesus did, seeing with the eyes of the Spirit that which Father does, and imitating Him as the dear children He has called us to be.  And the judgment that comes forth from us MUST BE RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT!  That requires that we “study to show ourselves approved…..”

Prepared for Quickening

We have a great work to do, starting with preparing ourselves for Holy Ghost quickening.

John 5:21 – For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

I can say with absolute certainty that MOST Christians I PERSONALLY KNOW desire to be used by the Lord in powerful ways, and they desire it for the glory of God, and NOT self-aggrandizement.  Just as surely, I have observed that while most people have a will to win, far fewer have the desire toPREPARE to win.  In recent study and time with the Lord, Holy Spirit spoke these words into my spirit.  He said to me, “Qualify yourself for the help you need so you can qualify yourself for the success you desire.”  In immediately knew in my spirit what He was saying to me, and that I needed to share it with others after applying it to my own life.  It was NOT a matter of me failing the Lord.  It was a matter of me not fully engaging in the acts, works, attitude, and investing in my own life that which would open me fully to the flow of His divine power, and remove the “little foxes” that could hinder me in so many ways.  It is time for a renewed and stronger application of John’s words to my own life; “He must increase, but I must decrease.”  What does that mean?  One could use the word “priorities.”  I need to re-prioritize, and remain in a clear state of sensitivity to Holy Spirit to maintain accurate priorities in my relationships, first with the Lord, and then with everyone else.

For me, re-prioritization means . . .

  • more time in the Word; I need fresh eyes to examine familiar passages
  • a prayer check; I need to be better accurized in needed focus
  • closer observation of Father; I can only do what I SEE Him do
  • more defined action; I am to be an imitator of the Lord in ALL things
  • clearer boldness, not being dismayed by ANY person’s face; lives are in the balance

All others come secondarily to these.  I have written in broad terms.  Holy Spirit will guide and instruct me in the steps to take, the paths to follow, the ways to act, and the attitudes to cultivate, nurture, and maintain.  By doing these things, I am qualifying myself for the help ONLY HE can give me so that I may attain to the success which ONLY HE can accomplish in, with, for, and through me.  The list you see is the list Holy Spirit gave ME.  It’s not YOUR list.  Holy Spirit must provide you with your own list.  I shared my list in hopes that you would be provoked to enter into your own preparation for Holy Ghost quickening.  We are His ambassadors, and if we desire His full upholding authority, we need to fulfill our functions accurately.  Prepare yourself for His quickening.  He is ready to provide it.

Time to Marvel

I believe more people marvel at the powerlessness of the church than its real Holy Ghost power.

_______________

John 5:20 – For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

________________

Take a moment to re-read our Text for Today.  Do so slowly, purposefully, and with intent to see the broader picture of what Jesus was saying.  Jesus said, “For the Father loveth the Son;” “and sheweth him all things that himself doeth;” “and he will shew him greater works than these.”  But He also said one more thing in this verse.  He gave the reason for the Father’s manifesting His love to the Son and for showing the Son all the things He (the Father) does.  He declares that Father would show Him greater works.  And then He states clearly and without equivocation, THE REASON – “that ye may marvel.”

At this writing, I am 68 years old.  I have traveled to many nations of the world, seen much, experienced much, and witnessed many things that cause me to “marvel.”  I’m sure that you, too, have seen numerous things that have caused you to “marvel.”  But please be honest with yourself in your answer to the following question.  When you attend church services at your home church, visit another church, or perhaps even be involved in the ministry of said services, what really happens to cause you to “marvel?”  Has the church become so traditionally engrained in its format that all that occurs is generally what we expected?  Did the service you last attended cause you to “marvel” because of mighty manifestations of the Lord, or do we find ourselves marveling at week after week of the ordinary?  I am NOT attempting to provoke anyone to anger or shame.  NOR am I desirous to see one ministry or denomination prevail over another.  I want to see Jesus!  One song writer said it so well when he wrote, “Lord, I’m hungry for a mighty move of God.  Lord, I’m thirsty; pour out Your Holy Ghost.  Lord, I want to see the hand of God move mightily inside of me; I’m hungry for a move of God.”  While Father is certainly worthy of the finest we have to offer, should we make Sunday morning a performance to demonstrate talent, or a pouring out to demonstrate adoration?  Should our altars and aisles be filled only with dancers and ministers of helps, or should we add to that mix the desperate and multitudes needing healing?  Should our pulpits be filled with contracting manipulators, or with covenant ministers?

I pray you hear a cry for the marvelously holy in my voice.  Father desires to work in a way that causes both His people and the world to marvel.  To make that possible, we MUST see what He is doing.  Oh my Father, open our eyes, for we want to see Jesus!  In fact, more than wanting to see Him, we MUST see Him!

Greater Works

Is it ever enough to fall short of that which Father expects from us?

Oh the joy I have in my heart when I read the words of our Text for Today.  First, my joy rises high when I read that we can do what we see Father do.  The thrill of that is two-fold; (1) we can actually have the kind of relationship with almighty God that we CAN SEE in the spirit what He does, and (2) having seen it, we can do it.  But look at the second statement.  It declares that Father will “show Him (Jesus) greater works than these.”  Read that in the light of John 14:12.  Jesus said that if we believed on Him, we would do the same works He did, AND “greater works” because He went to the Father.  And once again I draw your attention by the pattern of performance that must be applied to the “greater works” referenced in John 14:12 AND our Text for Today.

In the Spirit, Jesus saw Father doing greater works than He (Jesus) could ever do in His earthly ministry.  As the Head of the body, He has declared that the knowledge He has, or the “mind of Christ,” is available to each member of His body.  And since Father has shown to Jesus those “greater works,” then we, as members of His body, are in position to be shown those “greater works.”  And seeing them in the spirit realm, we are then capable agents of our God to perform that which we have seen the Father do.

Based on the words of our Lord Himself, let us “reason together,” as Father has called us to do.  These thoughts are higher than natural thinking.  These ways are higher than natural ways.  The Scriptures describe our sins as scarlet.  Yet by Father’s “higher ways & thoughts, “they are white like snow.  By that same process, though natural thinking does not see the pattern we must follow to work the works of Him that has sent us, those same “higher ways & thoughts” can and will observe and follow the patterns set forth by Jesus.  To work the works of God, to perform the supernatural acts to which we have been called, to carry out our individual assignments, we must enter into that place in which we see our Father work, and then, operating by “higher ways & thinking,” “doexploits.”

John 5:19 speaks clearly to the truth that Jesus ONLY did what He saw (in the realm of the Spirit) His Father do.  Now read our Text for Today once again.  What a powerful statement!  Because Father God loves His Son, He showed His Son His perfect will by revealing ALL He (the Father) would do.  That being truthfully and absolutely stated and settled, I ask you the following; in relationship to Father through Jesus, who are you?  For the sake of our discussion, allow me to answer it.  You are a child of God, an heir of God, and a joint-heir with Christ.  The glory Father God gave Jesus, Jesus has given you.  The ability and authority (dunamis & exousia) Father God gave Jesus, Jesus has given you.  The ability and authority (dunamis & exousia) Jesus took back when He conquered Satan, Jesus has given you.  And because you belong (spirit, soul, & body) to the Lord, because you have been redeemed, because you have received His glory, power, dominion, and all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of the Lord Jesus, you can with full legitimacy apply our Text for Today to your own life.  You see, through Jesus, you are NOW a son of God.  What Jesus had in His earthly ministry and even now has NOTbeen divided among His people, for you are a joint-heir.  Whatever Jesus had, you have now.

So let’s read our Text for Today, and as we do, let us personalize it.  “For the Father loves the son (that’s me), and shows him (the son – that’s me) all things the Himself does.”  Once again, this is a marvelously powerful statement that we can, as believers, as Christians, as heirs of God and join-heirs with Christ, as His ambassadors, apply fully to ourselves.  Now we have NO EXCUSE for NOT knowing what is the mind of the Father as it relates to His will for performance through our lives.  FATHER WANTS YOU TO KNOW PRECISELY WHAT TO DO, WHEN TO DO IT, WHERE TO DO IT, AND HOW TO DO IT SO YOUR ACTIONS PRODUCE SUPERNATURAL RESULT (FRUIT) AND BRING GLORY TO THE FATHER!  I write these words in bold, capital letters, for I long for you to hear them shouted into your spiritual ears.  IT IS TIME, BODY OF CHRIST, FOR THE CHURCH TO RISE UP AND BE THE CHURCH.  IT IS TIME FOR THE CHURCH TO HAVE THE WORDS OF THE SONG FULFILLED IN OUR LIVES, “LET THE CHURCH BE THE CHURCH, LET THE PEOPLE REJOICE; WE’VE SETTLED THE QUESTION, WE’VE MADE OUR CHOICE!”   I CHOOSE TO BE WHO FATHER MADE ME TO BE . . . HIS SON!
