Don’t Walk Away

As hard as it is to believe, there are those who deliberately walk away from their covenant with God.

John 10:28-29 – And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  My Father, which gavethem me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

This is a day of observations . . .

Observation 1 – The life Jesus gives us is eternal.  What Jesus gives does not run down or wear out.  Whoever has eternal life shall “never perish.”  This is the “everlasting life” of John 3:16.  It is a gift from God that comes to us by grace through faith.  You cannot earn it; it is given.  Once again, it is a gift from God to all who will receive.

Observation 2 – Once one has received this eternal life, he/she is secure in that life because NO MAN can pluck them from the Lord’s hand.  As a part of this observation, we should note closely that when one receives eternal, one is placed in the heavenly position of resting in the Lord’s hand, once again, that place from which no man can be plucked by an outside force.

Observation 3 – When one receives eternal life, one becomes the possession of Father God by virtue of the fact that one becomes a child of God.  When my children were born, they were my possession, my responsibility to feed, clothe, shelter, protect, train, and equip for life.  Though my sons have grown to manhood and take responsibility for their own life, they are still my sons.  This speaks to the issue of eternal possession.

Observation 4 – As great as some men have become, there is NO father even near the level of comparison with our heavenly Father in His love, care, provision, blessing, and covenant promise.  He is, without comparison, the GREATEST FATHER OF ALL.

Observation 5 – Because Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are One, when you are in the hand of Jesus, the Son, you are also in the hand of Jehovah the Father, and of course, the hand of Holy Spirit.  When you are filled with Holy Ghost, you likewise have Father and Son making Their abode in you.  Think of that; Father, Son, and Holy Ghost all living in you, while at the same time, you are resting in Their hand.  What a place to be.

Observation 6 – One more observation is necessary.  It is the unstated observation of our Text for Today.  Once you are placed in the hand of God, no man can pluck you out.  However, it should be clearly understood that, should you choose, while being plucked from His hand is impossible, nothing is written of one CHOOSING to WALK AWAY.  The thought of such action seems completely foreign to me, and yet in our world today, children of God who do not know the power, privilege, and purpose of their place in covenant are known to do that very thing.  Study, my friend, to show yourself approved to your Father, and stand you ground safe in His hand as you walk your daily second mile.
