Prepared for Quickening

We have a great work to do, starting with preparing ourselves for Holy Ghost quickening.

John 5:21 – For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

I can say with absolute certainty that MOST Christians I PERSONALLY KNOW desire to be used by the Lord in powerful ways, and they desire it for the glory of God, and NOT self-aggrandizement.  Just as surely, I have observed that while most people have a will to win, far fewer have the desire to PREPARE to win.  In recent study and time with the Lord, Holy Spirit spoke these words into my spirit.  He said to me, “Qualify yourself for the help you need so you can qualify yourself for the success you desire.”  In immediately knew in my spirit what He was saying to me, and that I needed to share it with others after applying it to my own life.  It was NOT a matter of me failing the Lord.  It was a matter of me not fully engaging in the acts, works, attitude, and investing in my own life that which would open me fully to the flow of His divine power, and remove the “little foxes” that could hinder me in so many ways.  It is time for a renewed and stronger application of John’s words to my own life; “He must increase, but I must decrease.”  What does that mean?  One could use the word “priorities.”  I need to re-prioritize, and remain in a clear state of sensitivity to Holy Spirit to maintain accurate priorities in my relationships, first with the Lord, and then with everyone else.

For me, re-prioritization means . . .

  • more time in the Word; I need fresh eyes to examine familiar passages
  • a prayer check; I need to be better accurized in needed focus
  • closer observation of Father; I can only do what I SEE Him do
  • more defined action; I am to be an imitator of the Lord in ALL things
  • clearer boldness, not being dismayed by ANY person’s face; lives are in the balance

All others come secondarily to these.  I have written in broad terms.  Holy Spirit will guide and instruct me in the steps to take, the paths to follow, the ways to act, and the attitudes to cultivate, nurture, and maintain.  By doing these things, I am qualifying myself for the help ONLY HE can give me so that I may attain to the success which ONLY HE can accomplish in, with, for, and through me.  The list you see is the list Holy Spirit gave ME.  It’s not YOUR list.  Holy Spirit must provide you with your own list.  I shared my list in hopes that you would be provoked to enter into your own preparation for Holy Ghost quickening.  We are His ambassadors, and if we desire His full upholding authority, we need to fulfill our functions accurately.  Prepare yourself for His quickening.  He is ready to provide it.

Heard About You

If I were to follow an hour behind you this week, what would I hear?

John 12:18 – For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

In Acts 19 we encounter the report of seven men, sons of Sceva, who attempted to cast out a devil.  When they said, “We adjure you by the Christ Whom Paul preaches, come out,” the demon in the possessed man replied, “Jesus we know, and Paul we know, but who are you?”  A short study of the word “know” used twice in this report speaks volumes.  When the demons said, “Jesus we know,” the word “know” means “to know intimately.”  There was a not a demon, in or out of hell, that had not had a personal encounter with Jesus after He had “walked through that land (their territory) in indignation, and wounded the head out of the house of the wicked.”  So those possessing demons knew Jesus intimately.

But regarding the other use of the word “know,” it is a word that means, “to know by reputation.”  They were referring to Apostle Paul.  While they may never have personally encountered him to know him experientially, Paul’s works against the powers of darkness were such that his reputation was known across the demons ranks of hell.  To that end allow me to ask this question: “How are you known?”  If I followed behind you one hour wherever you went for a day, week, month, or longer, what would I hear about you?

In our Text for Today, we can easily understand why people would be following Jesus and wanting to be where He was coming so they could hear Him, touch Him, or simply see Him.  We must never diminish that image of our Lord in His earthly ministry.  But the question remains in the light of what Jesus said we should be doing and the witness He said we should be giving.  What are you doing as a member of the body of Christ, and what is the witness of what we are doing as the body of Christ collectively as a local or universal body of Christ?  Imagine the response if someone asks, “What have you heard about __(insert your name here)__?”  Would the response be something of which the Lord would say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”?  I know these are tough, very direct, introspective questions, but they are the precise kind we need to be asking ourselves regarding the witness we are offering to the world about us.  Consider your witness prayerfully.  Heaven wants to hear about you.
