Only One Can Wash You

For all who think there are many ways to our God ….. THEY ARE WRONG, TOTALLY!

John 13:8 – Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Let me come directly to the point.  There are many storms in life that can wet you to the bone, so to speak.  There are many winds of doctrine that can blow the rains and the stormy seas aboard you boat of life and wet you thoroughly.  There are many streams of thought, education, philosophy, and reasoning that may appear to alleviate one’s thirst for knowledge or peace in which one can be totally immersed.  But all those are, in truth, completely useless.  ONLY JESUS can wash you clean, fill the sails of your life with the wind of right direction, and quench the deepest thirst in the search for knowledge or peace.  ONLY JESUS!

Regardless of what we face in life, Jesus, by His blood and through the Word of His power, in the ONLY ONE Who can offer all we need.  And for us to walk in that place where all we need is not just provided, but abundantly so, it begins with washing.  The disciples, like the entirety of the Jewish world in the time of Jesus’ earthly minister were looking for Messiah to come.  Their problem was that they were looking for Him to come on their terms, based on their thinking, and their understanding.  Only, He didn’t come that way.  He came to seek and save that which was lost.  He came, not only for the Jews, but for whosoever will.  His love for the world of which you and I were once part was so dynamic, so powerful, so strong, so unchangeable, so unquenchable, so all-inclusive that He was willing to bow Himself to the will of Father’s plan, die the death of the cross, become obedient unto death, and pay the total price for the redemption of any and all who would call upon His Name.  Oh what a love He has for us, and our reception of that love begins with a washing.

Jesus told Peter that if He did not wash Peter’s feet, that Peter would have no part with Him.  Peter asked that Jesus wash, not only his feet, but his head and hands.  Though all that was necessary at that moment was for Peter’s feet to be washed, Peter’s heart was right in attitude.  And so it needs to be with us today.  It is not merely the new birth of our human spirit that is necessary, and takes place by the washing of regeneration, but it is the renewing of our mind, too.  And that happens as the washing of the water of the Word continually flows through and over our soul (mind, will, intellect, and emotions) to cause to be formed and function in our lives the mind of Christ.  And let us not forget the washing of the water of the Word that brings us to healing, health, and complete wholeness in Him.  ONLY JESUS!
