Power to the People

If you want to talk about power, have I got great news for you!

John 14:12 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Now here is a slogan used in demonstrations, politics, and even sales promotions.  But as modern as it may seem, this statement of empowerment has been around since the beginning.  After the creation, Father God placed all He had created under the dominion of Adam (male & female).  When you consider the vastness of ALL creation, that was “power to the people.”

When God chose Noah to build the ark, that was “power to the people.”  When Jehovah made covenant with Abraham, that was “power to the people.”  When Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt, and Joshua led them into the Promised Land, that was “power to the people.”  We see multiple examples of “power to the people” in the faith hall of fame in Hebrews 11; Gideon, Barak, Samson, Deborah, and Ehud, to name a few.

Ah, but there is yet far greater.  It is found in what the Church has called the Great Commission.  The Church has been endowed by the Lord Jesus Christ with the power of attorney to use His Name in the accomplishing of the same works He did, and even greater works.  He has declared that we have the authority to “bind and loose.”  Whatever we ask in His Name, He will do.  We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ.  We are the “head and not the tail.”  We are “above only and not beneath.”  Whatever we put our hands to should prosper.  We are more than conquerors through Christ; we are overcomers.  Jesus has made us to be kings and priests.  We can have what we say.  We have access to Almighty God through the Name of Jesus, and this is the confidence we have in Him; if we ask anything and He hears us, we know we have it.  My dear fellow Second Miler, what I am writing about is “power to the people.”  Don’t miss it in your life today.  God has empowered you with Himself, His supernatural ability, His life, His nature, and His love.  Truly, that is “power to the people.”
