Keep My Commandments, AND…

“And” is an awesome collector of blessing.

John 14:15-16 – If you love Me, keep My commandments, And . . .

The word “and” is a conjunction tying two or more words, phrases, or sentences together.  Unlike the conjunction “or” that creates an option, “and” joins the element together creating a combination.  “And” is a synergistic word, the term synergy indicating  the whole is worth more than the sum of the parts.  In this case, synergy is an understatement.  There is a supernaturally exponential power increase in agreement between and among believers, but here is where it begins.  It all starts when a person comes into agree-ment with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.  And God calls that agreement in action love.  If you agree with God’s Word, then you do what the Word says.  God calls that obedience, and He calls that obedience love, and also calls it wisdom.

But for the sake of examination, let’s look simply at the connections made by the “And” of our Text for Today.  Jesus said that keeping His commandments would result in a personal action on His part.  That personal action is that He would “pray the Father.”  Without understanding the present role of our Messiah on the right hand of God, this statement may exist, stripped of its true potential in our thinking.  But allow your mind to be renewed to this great truth.  ANYTHING Jesus asks the Father, the Father will do, and in this case Jesus expressed specifically it would be that thing for which He would ask the Father.  He said He would “pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter . . . even the Spirit of truth.”

So once again, let us consider this single “And.”  Based on our love for Him, we will keep His command-ments.  Please note that our keeping His commandments does NOT affect His love for us; that, my friend, is eternal, never changing, and never ending.  But it is OUR love FOR Him that is demonstrated through our obedience.  And it is a blessing to us for our love for Him that puts us in position to be recipients, NOT ONLY of the Person of Holy Spirit, but ALL He is, represents, and can do.  That, dear one, is power to the extreme.  And it is surely true at this point in the history of the Church of the Lord Jesus that His power NEEDS to be manifest consistently, immediately, and radically.  The church MUST be light and salt.  We MUST have Holy Ghost power to do it.  So love Him, “And . . .”
