Jesus, the Word made flesh, will NEVER fail to carry out what He has proclaimed.
John 14:18 – I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
There are two things about which our Lord has told us we should “take no thought.” One is obvious to the person who is living by faith. Jesus said we should “take no thought” about our daily needs and provision; that which we shall eat or drink, by which we shall be clothed, or shelter. He went on to say that if we would first “seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness,” all those things for which He told us to take no thought would be added to us. The principle we apply here not only fits our daily needs, but can be applied in the other arena in which He told us to “take no thought.” And that arena is that place in which we may be called by persecutors to answer for the hope that lies in us. In that place, He said that it would be given us what we must say.
There are two elements involved in that second area of which I write. One is the Comforter, the Holy Ghost Whom Jesus promised to send from the Father to fill us, comfort us, teach us, and bring the Word to our remembrance. The other element is the Word of God. His Word is a light to our path, a lamp unto our feed. It is life to us who find it and health to all our flesh. He sent His Word and healed us and delivered us from our destructions. His Word is the seed by which we are born again, and the faith building agent in our lives by which we can please Father. His Word is the Water of life, the Bread of life, and Jesus being the Word made flesh IS “the way, the truth, and the life.” Without His Word we can’t live, but through our faith in His Word we can do all things.
Our Lord said He would not “leave you comfortless.” It was through His Word that he promised us the indwelling presence of Holy Spirit, and when the Word of God comes to us, especially in the form of revelation knowledge, we are in fact receiving the presence of our Lord Himself, the Word made flesh.
