LOVE – the Source of Power

Make sure you’re looking in the right place for the real power of God.

I cannot tell how often I have heard and continue to hear Christians talking about the power of God with a great sense of longing.  I truly believe they desire the real thing, but one of the great problems they have is they’re looking in the wrong places.  They look for it in faith.  Don’t misunderstand me; we definitely need faith, for without it we cannot please Father, and where there is no faith, there will be no manifestation of the power of God.  But faith is not the source; it is the conduit.  Others look for it in grace, and we must assuredly need grace.  But grace comes to us THROUGH faith.  Outside of faith, one will not see manifestations of grace.  Grace is not the source; it is the flow by which the power flows to and through us.  So what IS the source of the power of God?  I’m so glad you asked.

It is the LOVE of GOD.  The source of ANYTHING Godly is God Himself.  The source of faith is God.  The source of grace is God.  But to say the source of love is God is not precisely accurate.  The reason is simple.  God IS love.  He is not the source of love; He IS love.  If you know the love of God, you know God.  If you are in the presence of the love of God, you are in the presence of God.  Stop trying to say the love is OF God or FROM God.  I know; we’ve used those expressions for years.  But once again, the simple truth is this; GOD IS LOVE!  And when we consider our Text for Today, joined with 1 John 5:3 as the definition of the love of God manifest in us, life becomes so simple.  Do you desire the God of heaven to be manifest in and through your life?  Walk in love; keep His commandments.  Do you desire the power of God to be manifest in and through your life?  Walk in love; keep His commandments.  You see, to us and for us, the love of God is keeping His commandments.  That means that we should be doers of His Word.  When we do, we set into motion His covenant truth to and for us to be manifest in and through us.  When we are “doers of the Word,” our God is shows Himself as “Confirmer of the Word.”  That is, He manifests Himself AS the Word, the Word that is God, as God Who is love.  Let’s keep it simple.  Power flows from love.
