Oh what a promise!

_____________

John 16:23 – And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Today we look at the completing portion of our Text for Today.  Previously we examined that Jesus said in the day, or age, of the New Covenant, we would not ask Him for anything.  Once again I remind you that He did NOT say we would not commune with Him.  On the contrary, if anything, our communion with our Lord and Savior should greatly increase in our New Covenant relationship we have with Him.  But concerning the issue of bringing our requests for answered prayer to the throne, we actually live in a far better covenant than did His disciples when He walked the earth.  When Jesus walked the earth, He could only be in one pace at a time.  By virtue of the fact that He had taken upon Himself the form of flesh, He had restricted Himself.  But now, in this covenant, after His resurrection and being seated on the right hand of Majesty, the restrictions of flesh have been removed.  Now we have access to Father God, Who is a Spirit, Who is omnipresent, and Who is omnipotent.  And when we approach Father in the Name of Jesus, the limitlessness of Scriptural prayer offered to the Father in faith that pleases Him becomes manifest.

Look at the words of our Lord concerning our prayers of petition and supplication in the New Covenant.  Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you.  Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My Name, He will give it you.”  What an awesomely empowering statement He made to us.  My question to you is a simple one.  Do you believe it?  “Whatsoever.”  That, my dear friend, is an offer without limits to anyone who prays Scripturally.  Ah, as Shakespeare might say, but there’s the rub.  It should not be the case, but sadly it is.  One of the greatest hurdles we must overcome in our prayers is our own shortcomings in recognizing the different kinds of prayer, realizing not all the guidelines for each kind of prayer are the same for each kind of prayer, and then being willing to study to show ourselves approved unto God as one who rightly divides the Word of Truth, accurately applying faith established firmly upon the Word of God in our prayer lives at every juncture.  I urge you today, my dear reader friend, give yourself to a most blessed study of God’s Word to gain the revelation you need to develop an accurate, powerful, fulfilling prayer life.  Father has blessings for you beyond your greatest imagination, but to have them abundantly flowing in your life, we must rise to the standards of prayer He has established.  Your blessings and answers to prayer await your obedience in this endeavor.
