Use Your Benefits

More often than not, most people never fully use the capacity of anything they buy or possess.

The story is told of a mountain man who came to town for his annual supplies.  He walked into a new store in town and found a salesman showing of a new chain saw that was in stock.  The mountain man asked about the saw, and the salesman told him that with that saw, he could easily cut two or three cords of wood per day; guaranteed.  Hearing that, the mountain man immediate bought the saw and took it home.  Two weeks later he returned the saw to the store, telling the salesman that on his best day, he had only been able to cut a little less than a cord of wood.  The salesman took the saw and examined it.  It was properly fueled and oiled, the chain was quite sharp, and everything seemed in order.  As the mountain man looked on, the salesman primed the saw, pulled the starter rope, and the chain saw fired up with a roar, at which the mountain man recoiled and excitedly asked, “What’s that!?”

You see, the mountain man held in his hands the ability to cut more wood in day than he had ever thought possible.  But not having been shown or taught the capabilities of the saw, and not having read the instruction manual, he never knew what he possessed, thus never enjoyed the full capacity of the ability he held in his hands.  How often has this been the case in the body of Christ with believers who have lived their lives untaught, unshown, and untrained in the use of what is fully in their possession?  And how many believers have not taken time to read and even come close to grasping all that has been provided to them can help them produce?  Sadly, this scenario has played out all to often for many Christians who meant well, but living with a lack of knowledge, found themselves incapable of producing what was expected of them.

Take a moment to examine your own productivity, fruitfulness, and record of victory in your walk as a believer, as a joint-heir with Christ, and as an ambassador of the King.  Are you living at the level He has described in His Word?  If you are, praise the Lord!  If not, it’s time for changes to be made, and they begin in your heart, mind, and fellowship.  Hide the Word in your heart, build your faith, renew your mind to the Word, and chose NOW to be a doer of the Word, and not a hearer only.  Father is waiting to confirm His Word with signs following as you follow through in His covenant.
