If there was every anything that needs to be flown over the castles of our lives, it is Jesus, our Banner.

Banners have been used, either flown or hung throughout the entirety of recorded history. As far back as one can go, and to whatever societal culture one may go, banners are a part of life. They are seen in many forms; colorful ribbons, feathers, animal skins or heads, designs on war shields and clothing, and even a simple flourish of a colored rope or cord. Whether they waved in the wind, flew by on a proudly steeping steed, or have been hung over entry ways or king’s thrones, banners have been a part of human culture in every society. The Romans, Persians, Greeks, Assyrians, Egyptians, European national royalty, armies of nations, the native Americans of the North and South American continents, and even smaller groups of the Pacific islands, banners have flown, still fly today, and will continue to fly as long as man inhabits this planet.
But the greatest banner that can be flown, the ONLY one that represents truly divine power and ability is JehovahNissi, the Lord my Banner. In the Song of Solomon 2:4, the Word declares, “He brought me to his banqueting table, and his banner over me is love.” What a beautiful and powerful statement. We know that God is love. God is our Banner. We know that the Love of God is keeping His commandments (1 John 5:3). God and His Word are One, and to keep His Word is to keep Him as the authority of our lives. We know that faith works by love. The faith we have is the God-kind of faith that comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. So, to be brought to His banqueting table is to come to that place where we feast on the bread of His Word, on the meat of His Word, on the water of His Word, and the wine of His Spirit; a table prepared before us in the presence of our enemies. And while sitting at and feasting from that table, His banner waves over us in the blowing wind of Holy Spirit; and that banner waving over us is LOVE. GOD IS LOVE! GOD IS THE BANNER OVER US! LOOK UP, MY FRIEND, LOOK UP, AND SEE YOUR BANNER WAVE!
