He Still Prays

While the work of redemption is finished, the work to bring men to it is not.

Take a moment and read our Text for Today once more.  Now think for a moment of the current ministry of our Lord Jesus.  At this moment, He is seated on the right hand of the Father, where, as our High Priest, He ever lives to make intercession for us according to the will of the Father.  I realize this runs contrary to popular thought in much of the church today, but the truth is still unchanging.  Jesus has already done all He can do to save the lost.  He was the Word Who became flesh, born of a virgin, and living as a prophet under the Old Covenant.  He suffered and died the death of the cross, was buried, and raised from the dead three days later.  Through His work, He has already redeemed mankind from the curse of the law, and has ascended to the right hand of Father having fully accepted His role as Head of the body of Christ and High Priest of the Church, where He is now seated and makes intercession for the church.  There is NO additional work that can do or needs to do for the salvation of any man.  That work is now in the hands of the church to carry out the commands of the Lord with the empowering and authorizing of Holy Spirit.  It is NOW the work of the church to “to into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature; to heal the sick; to cast out devils; to baptize in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost; to make disciples.  All that is OUR work, NOT His.  And He has given us Holy Spirit to make that possible in His Name and Power (dunamis) and Authority (exousia).

But we must NEVER forget that His work does indeed continue day by day, moment by moment.  HE STILL PRAYS.  And in fact, it might be better stated to say, HE IS ALWAYS PRAYING!  Once again I repeat the words, He ever lives to make intercession for the saints according to the will of Father.  While in the earth, some people pray to live, there, on the right hand of Father, Jesus LIVES TO PRAY.  Think of this.  Any time we pray according to the will of God, we know He hears us.  And we know that if He hears us, we have what we asked of Him.  As our High Priest, Jesus, seated on Father’s right hand, stands with you in faith for every prayer you utter that is according to the Word of God.  He is perfectly fulfilling His role as High Priest for us each and every moment we live.  How thankful we should be!

Manifested Name – Part Ten

Let us NEVER forget or forsake the Masterwork of SANCTIFICATION…..so necessary.

______________

John 17:6a – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

_______________

Read our Text for Today once more.  Jesus said He had manifested Father’s Name unto those Father had given Him.  Do you belong to Jesus?   If you do, you are in a better place today than those Father had given Jesus when He made this statement, for those who had been given to Jesus at that time lived under the Old Covenant.  You, on the other hand, live under the New Covenant.  And since you live in a better place today, at the very least, all that was revealed to those who belonged to Jesus under the Old Covenant has already been revealed unto you, and that includes Father’s “MANIFESTED NAME.”  And in our daily study of late examining Father’s “MANIFESTED NAME,” we come today to the final name in this examination series – JEHOVAH M’KADDESH – the LORD our SANCTIFIER.

To be sanctified is a power of great strength and honor in the Lord.  In its fullness, it means “to be physically pure, morally blameless, spiritually consecrated.”  In a single word, it means to be “HOLY.”  Without “holiness,” “no man shall see God” (Hebrews 12:14).  Think of that statement.  In order for any man/woman to behold Jehovah God, that man/woman MUST BE HOLY!  There is no other means by which any man/woman can stand before God, justified.  And that, of course, means the being holy is not a matter of man behaving himself into the presence of God, or working himself into the presence of God, or by some means earning his way into the presence of God.  For you see, the Bible also declares that “the just shall live by his faith” (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17).

From that simple reasoning, one should clearly see that being holy, being righteous, knowing and under-standing the MANIFESTED NAME of JEHOVAH M’KADDESH – the LORD our SANCTIFIER, must arise from and eternally exist in the work and manifestation of FAITH.   And that being the case, we can ultimately come to only one place in our lives to live in and enjoy that MANIFESTED NAME of JEHOVAH M’KADDESH, and that is the Word of God.  And the manner by which we come to such a conclusion is simple.  The just shall live by faith; without faith it is impossible to please God; faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God; faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen; we are saved (born again and made holy) by grace through faith; our defensive shield to quench all the fiery darts of Satan is faith; faith is part of the fruit of the spirit; and through faith in Jesus Christ, I can do all things.  FAITH IS THE ANCHOR THAT HOLDS US IN THE HANDS OF JEHOVAH-M’KADDESH – the LORD our SANCTIFIER.  And Jesus has MANIFESTED His NAME to us.

Manifested Name – Part Nine

I don’t know what you are facing today, but know this, JEHOVAH SHAMMAH – the Lord IS There.

Oh how I rejoice in our Second Miler today.  Think about this….if you make your bed in hell, if you are on the earth, if you are heaven, if you are in jail, if you are in court, if you are in a doctor’s office, if you are in the hospital, if you are in surgery, if you are in trouble, if you are blessed, if you are rich, if you are poor, if you sit in the light, if you sit in the dark, if you laugh, if you cry, if you are rested, if you are exhausted, if you are coming in, if you are going out, if you are in the city, if you are in the field, if you are up, if you are down, if you are happy, if you are sad….REGARDLESS of where you are and when you are there, JEHOVAH SHAMMAH – the LORD IS THERE!

Oh how thankful we should be for this element of our Lord’s manifested Name.  I have had the great privilege to travel to many places on our planet to which most people in our world will never travel, aside from the modern technology of media.  I have enjoyed first-hand the fellowship of people of many cultures, nations, and languages.   I have endured first-hand the travel, medical, and nutritional challenges that so many people face daily, conditions that most Americans would consider appalling, but which are endured daily by so many.  And yet, no matter where I have traveled, regardless of the various extremes in conditions I may have witnessed, without regard to ethnic, social, or financial status, I can attest to you boldly, JEHOVAH SHAMMAH – the LORD IS THERE.

While we should certainly rejoice over the Lord’s manifested Names, RAPHAJIREHSHALOM, and ROHI, we should NEVER fail to recognize a love so great that it has completely invaded EVERY arena of our lives.  TSIDKENU is a possibility maker, NISSI is a fixed identifier, and SHAMMAH is a great comfort to every moment of life.  For without SHAMMAH, there is the possibility that we could encounter times, difficulties, situations, and events in life where we could find ourselves alone.  Ah, but with SHAMMAH, that cannot be the case.  Take heart, my believer friend.  Regardless of WHAT you face, WHEN you face it, WHERE you face it, or WHY you face it, JEHOVAH SHAMMAH – THE LORD IS THERE!

Manifested Name – Part Eight

If there was every anything that needs to be flown over the castles of our lives, it is Jesus, our Banner.

________________

John 17:6a I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

_________________

Banners have been used, either flown or hung throughout the entirety of recorded history.  As far back as one can go, and to whatever societal culture one may go, banners are a part of life.  They are seen in many forms; colorful ribbons, feathers, animal skins or heads, designs on war shields and clothing, and even a simple flourish of a colored rope or cord.  Whether they waved in the wind, flew by on a proudly steeping steed, or have been hung over entry ways or king’s thrones, banners have been a part of human culture in every society.  The Romans, Persians, Greeks, Assyrians, Egyptians, European national royalty, armies of nations, the native Americans of the North and South American continents, and even smaller groups of the Pacific islands, banners have flown, still fly today, and will continue to fly as long as man inhabits this planet.

But the greatest banner that can be flown, the ONLY one that represents truly divine power and ability is JehovahNissi, the Lord my Banner.  In the Song of Solomon 2:4, the Word declares, “He brought me to his banqueting table, and his banner over me is love.”  What a beautiful and powerful statement.  We know that God is love.  God is our Banner.  We know that the Love of God is keeping His commandments (1 John 5:3).  God and His Word are One, and to keep His Word is to keep Him as the authority of our lives.  We know that faith works by love.  The faith we have is the God-kind of faith that comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  So, to be brought to His banqueting table is to come to that place where we feast on the bread of His Word, on the meat of His Word, on the water of His Word, and the wine of His Spirit; a table prepared before us in the presence of our enemies.  And while sitting at and feasting from that table, His banner waves over us in the blowing wind of Holy Spirit; and that banner waving over us is LOVEGOD IS LOVE!  GOD IS THE BANNER OVER US!  LOOK UP, MY FRIEND, LOOK UP, AND SEE YOUR BANNER WAVE!

Manifested Name – Part Seven

How can we lose a sense of righteousness when our God is Jehovah Tsidkenu?

_________________

John 17:6a – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

__________________

Today we press forward to yet a broader revelation of His Manifested Name – the Name of Jehovah Tsidkenu, or the Lord my Righteousness.  I find it interesting that when we speak of the redemptive names of Jehovah, the nomenclature terms of Rapha (Healer), Jireh (Provider), and Shammah (Peace) are the most often recalled, while the one we examine today, Tsidkenu (Righteousness), seems to be so difficult to call forth to quick memory.  I realize there could be many reasons, especially relating to song titles and lyrics.  Still, for us to solidly embrace the easily remembered names, and especially to have them manifest in our daily living, we must realize that they are all tied together, and without Tsidkenu, we basically handicap ourselves to be recipients of the full complement of redemptive names.

While the same work at Calvary that purchased our righteousness also purchased our peace, healing, and provision, is it not notable that redemption always seems to point FIRST at righteousness, leaving healing, peace, and provision to follow?  Once again, don’t misunderstand my words.  Our redemption from the curse of law has been completed by the Lord Jesus, but it has NEVER been the intention of our God that we should walk in only PART of the plan of redemption, but in ALL of it.  And since faith works by love, and the love of God is to keep His Commandments, righteousness, right standing with God, and ultimately our personal identity in Him might be called the forerunner to the completeness of redemption as it should be known in this age.  To that end, I offer you 1 Corinthians 1:30 – “But of Him are you in Christ Jesus, Who if God is made unto you wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.”

Of late I have become clearly aware of a cultural phenomenon at some level in every church I have attended.  In some it is not so noticeable, but it others, it is painfully obvious.  The Bible teaches that the church is the salt of the earth.  The church should be seasoning the world.  Sadly, today, it appears that the world is seasoning the church.  One should put salt on mean to season and preserve it.  Yet today it seems the meat is being brought into the church to use it up.  Righteousness salts.  The world corrupts.  The question is, what is being applied to what?  Let us focus on the work of righteousness, and not the popularity of what the world consumes.  And hold to this wonderful thought – JESUS IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Manifested Name – Part Six

There should be no doubt in any believer’s mind; HEALING BELONGS TO EVERY BELIEVER!

_______________

John 17:6a – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

_______________

Psalm 103Psalm 107Proverbs 4Isiah 533 John, and myriad other Scriptures state it so plainly.  Healing is as well established in covenant as the new birth, as firmly settled as eternal life, and as real as created itself.  It IS the will of God for ALL His people to live in health in this earth in this present time.  That, my friend, is an established truth in God’s Word, and it will never change.  Regardless of what certain theologians, denominations, and religious groups and individuals have declared, the truth of healing is NOT diminished one iota in the Scriptures.  HEALING BELONGS TO YOU, CHILD OF GOD!

It was clearly stated and demonstrated throughout the Old Covenant.  God’s will to heal and desire for His people to be whole is clearly demonstrated, and never more clearly than when the children of Israel made their exodus out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses after the Passover.  In that case, the Scriptures stated it so plainly.  The morning following the Passover, all of the people of Israel from the eldest to the youngest, those who were sick, those who had been beaten, injured or maimed by the Egyptians who evil entreated them, and those who were simply suffering from the result of an accident were completely healed.  As the Scriptures declare, “there was not one infirm person among them.”  They were totally healed.  And even after their departure, when the rebelled against the Lord in the wilderness with the golden calf, and serpents came among them to envenomate them with their bites, when they looked on the brass serpent on the pole, they were totally healed, made will, and lived.  And we can add the wonderful news to that of Malachi 3:6.  There the Lord says, “I am the Lord; I change not.”

And in the New Testament we see that will even more clearly displayed in even broader measure.  Mark 16:15-20 sets the stage, and John 14:12-14 drops that anchor firmly in the middle of God’s unchanging will for healing.  What is so saddening to me is that there are still Christians who are so blinded as to believe that sickness or disease is a tool God used to teach His people.  Oh, my dear friend, that is simply NOT true.  Jesus is our Healer.  Jesus, the Word made flesh,” was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and according to 1 Peter 2:24, by His stripes you “WERE” healed.  It is not a promise to be given, but an established truth every believer should full accept, and then rejoice in it.  Jesus is not GOING TO BE our Healer; HE IS OUR HEALER!

Manifested Name – Part Five

Psalm 119:165 sets the standard; those who love God’s law have a peace that cannot be offended.

_______________

John 17:6a – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

________________

The “Manifested Name” we examine today is Jehovah Shalom; or as we would say today, the Lord my Peace.  In the Hebrew language, the word “shalom” is a powerful word that means perfect health, prosperity, and complete wholeness.  It also means “nothing missing; nothing broken.”  Now think for a moment.  What kind of a life does one live when there is “nothing missing, and nothing broken?”  What a marvelous use of descriptive terms to give a clear image of what “shalom,” the God-kind of peace, entails.  Think of that!  NOTHING MISSINGNOTHING BROKEN!

And yet that is precisely what that term means.  Then in the New Testament, the word peace is a Greek word that means “prosperity, quietness, to be set at one again.”  There is really no doubt about it.  Even in the New Testament, the word peace still means “NOTHING MISSINGNOTHING BROKEN.”  Once again I cannot help but stand in awe at the great, all-encompassing power and dynamic of the word “PEACE” as it is used in covenant relationship with our God.  Think of it!  As a child of God, heir of God, joint-heir of Christ, seed of Abraham, and heir according to the promise, you and I should be living daily completely resting in our Lord.  He has broken down the middle wall of partition.  He has made a new and living way for us to come to the Father by His Own blood.  He has reconciled us to Father through Himself and we have already been fully endued with the peace of God that passes understanding.  And it surely does pass understanding.

It was a promise of the Father.  Once Holy Spirit came in His fullness on the day of Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus, it became a fixed covenant reality.  Now it is no longer a promise, but an established fact, already given.  All the covenant child of God needs to do is find it in the Word of God, build his/her faith on what the Word says, and then by faith accept the work Jesus has already completed.  And once accepted, we must hold fast to our confidence.  Yes, we may have to fight to keep it, for our enemy, Satan, does indeed come to steal, kill, and destroy.  Remember, Jacob had to wrestle to “get” a blessing.  But for you and me, now in this present covenant, we don’t need to wrestle to get the blessing of peace, but we will surely have to fight to keep it.  Just remember, God has said He will keep in perfect peace that person whose mind is stayed on Him.  And if God said it, that settles it.  Shalom, my friend!

Manifested Name – Part Four

And just what does our Covenant Lord provide for our lives?

_________________

John 17:6a – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

_________________

Today we continue in our consideration of the “Manifested Name” of Jesus as we look at Jehovah Jirehthe Lord my Provider.  I remember decades ago when we would sing the chorus, “Jehovah Jireh, My Provider,” and rejoice in the knowledge that He was indeed our Provider.  The words of the chorus said He would provide “all our need, according to His riches in glory” as stated in Philippians 4:19.  But let us look back at the Old Testament and determine the basis for that statement’s origin.  We find it in Genesis 22, especially verse 24.  In that passage we read to account of Abraham taking Isaac up on Mount Moriah to sacrifice him there.  On the way, Isaac asked where the sacrifice was, and Abraham responded that “God would provide Himself a sacrifice.”  Then in verse 24, Abraham called the place Jehovahjireh, meaning “the Lord will see to it.”  While we can, and I believe should accept that statement as truth regarding every need a covenant child of God can have in this earth, I also believe we would have a deeper understanding of that statement if we first placed it in its context of Genesis 22.

In Genesis 22, Abraham’s statement was not in reference to all the needs a believer might have, but to one very specific need that was demonstrated in the events on Mount Moriah, later called Calvary, the place of our Lord’s crucifixion.  I encourage you to read the account in Genesis 22.  When Isaac asked about the sacrifice, Abraham did not simply say, “the Lord will provide.”  What He DID say was, “the Lord will provide Himself a sacrifice.”  There is much more to that than the casual reader would see.  Abraham was speaking a powerful prophetic word that would impact the entire world.  Mankind needed a sacrifice that would pay the TOTAL price for the sin, sickness, poverty, captivity, and darkness of the whole world.  That sacrifice would come in the form of Himself, the Word made flesh, and that was Jesus, or God the Son in the flesh.  That is the deepest meaning of the words of Abraham as he and Isaac ascended Moriah.  There were four individuals involved in that action of that day.  Abraham, father of our faith, and his only begotten son; a man who was willing to sacrifice his son, and a son who was willing to be the sacrifice.  Their actions and willingness set the stage for our Jehovah God to be willing to sacrifice His only Begotten Son, and for that Son Who was willing to become the sacrifice, to come on the scene in a world trapped into darkness by man’s sin, and follow through with the willingness demonstrated by Abraham and Isaac for the work of God the Father and God the Son to provide ALL any redeemed man could ever require for victorious living in this present world.  Truly, our God is our Jehovah Jireh, “the Lord Who will see to it.”

Manifested Name – Part Three

Oh how powerful is our redemption!

__________________

John 17:6a – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world:

________________

Again today we examine how Jesus manifested Father’s Name to those He had given Jesus; His followers.  In that process we point out the redemptive names of the Lord in the Old Testament.  First we consider Jehovah Rohi, meaning “the Lord is my Shepherd.”  Reading Psalm 23 opens a beautiful picture of this name manifested.  As the good Shepherd, Jesus will lead His sheep, if they will follow, to that place where they will lack or want for nothing.  That is a place of total provision.  He makes them to lie down in green pastures; safe, open, warmed by the sun, soft bedding for lambs, and sound nutrition for all those grazing there; a place of abundant provision of needs.  He leads them beside still waters; safe, gently flowing, clean, easily accessible, and drinkable waters; here is also a picture of revelation of His Word, line upon line, precept upon precept, a gradual growth in and deepening of one’s understanding of the life-giving Word of God.  He restores their soul; takes them to places of peace, calm, and quiet; peace meaning “shalom;” nothing broken, nothing missing; a renewed mind with a full capacity to “reason” with Father; the mind of Christ.  He leads them in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake; our God, being a righteous God, and having caused us to be born again, re-created in His image, He fully expects us to be His representatives, His ambassadors in the earth.  How would you expect a representative of the President of the United States to dress and present him/herself to the general populace, and especially in called meetings where personal representation is demanded?  Is Jesus of a higher plane of character than even the President of the United States?  How then should we appear as His representatives?  And should we fear?  IN NO WAY!  How often in the Scriptures are we commanded to “fear not?”  Even though we may walk “through the valley of the shadow of death,” fear has NO PLACE in the life of a believer.  Why?  Because He will NEVER leave or forsake us, and our God, Who is LOVE casts out all fear.  And furthermore, even in such a valley and the “fear of death,” we will find ourselves COMFORTED by His “rod and staff” (the Word of God).  And pray tell, why are so many believers settling for “crumbs” in life when our Master is preparing a table before us where our enemies can watch us enjoy the feast of the Lord?  And know this, we are anointed in this life, painted as a target for “goodness and mercy” to follow you all the days of your life.  Ours is NOT to be a life of struggle, but of blessing, for Jesus is our JEHOVAH ROHI.
