Full House

When God fills a place, it is filled.  No room remains.

Acts 2:2 – And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

It was fifty days after the crucifixion of our Lord.  He had risen from the dead, tarried in the earth for about five weeks, and ascended to the Father.  Then ten days later, as His followers who had obeyed His command to tarry in Jerusalem were gathered together in one place, Holy Ghost came on the scene, suddenly, powerfully, and fully.  Look at our Text for Today once again.  The sound came “suddenly,” though the plan was ages old.  The sound was of a “rushing mighty wind.”  “Rushing” indicates the meeting of a deadline, and the deadline was the promise of the Spirit.  “Mighty” signifies power, and this was indeed the dunamis power of God coming forth upon and into men.  And “wind” is significant of Holy Ghost; unseen, but tangible in His person, presence, and performance.

Now note the next phrase; “and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”  Please note that the passage does NOT say “it filled all the house,” but rather, “it filled all the house where they were sitting.”  There is great significance in that statement.  Holy Spirit did not come with the sound of a mighty rushing wind to an uninhabited location.  Rather, He came to a place that was inhabited by humanity, and not just any humanity, but to a place filled with humanity that was obedient to the Lord (the Word made flesh).  Holy Spirit has not changed, my friend; He is still the same today.  While as God, He is omnipresent (everywhere present at all times), Holy Spirit seeks that which is anointed as a place to rest, abide, and manifest His power.  On that first day of Pentecost following the resurrection of Jesus, that place was the 120 people who had chosen to obey the command of Jesus to tarry in Jerusalem until they would be endued with power.

The Word of God carries anointing, and when one hears the Word of God and obeys the Word of God, one carries with that obedient action the anointing that is on that Word.  In Genesis 1, while the earth was in darkness, Holy Spirit was present, hovering over the face of the deep.  But that is all He was doing – hovering – until the Word came forth.  When Father spoke, Holy Ghost responded to that Word and light came forth.  The same is still true today.  Holy Spirit is still hovering over the face of the earth, and more specifically, waiting before the face of every person, waiting to hear the Word of God come from their lips.  And when He hears the Word, He does what He has always done – He goes into action, carrying out what that Word says.  And when He does it, He does it in FULL; NEVER part way.  ALWAYS IN FULL.  Fill your life with God’s Word, speak that Word from your mouth, and allow Holy Ghost to fill your house TO THE FULL.
