But the Angel of the Lord

Never discount the work and ministry of holy angels; NEVER!

Acts 5:19-20 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

Angels.  Lots of people talk about them.  Most of those who do are sadly lacking in knowledge and understanding about them.  A few have some real insight into who and what angels do, and fewer still purposefully engage angels in their day to day lives.  I’m sure you’ve heard much of the same kind of talk I have.  A child dies and people speak of another angel being added to heaven’s battalions.  Many speak of what they call a “guardian” angel.  The truth is that while certain angels are assigned some responsibilities of guardian-ship, there is really no such angel.

But just because so much of the talk about angels is baseless and very fairy-tale-like in no way indicates that the church should not know about angels, their assignment, and how we, as believers, should behave ourselves regarding their work.  According to the Scriptures, “all” angels are God’s ministers for our good.  From their earliest assignment set forth by the Father at the garden of Eden, their work is “to keep the way of the tree of life.”  That command by the Father has neither been changed or counter-manded.  The Word of God is settled forever in heaven.  If God said it, that settles it.  Angels are still under divine command to carry out the same work at this hour as they were when man was put out of the garden of Eden.  And when we, the church, clearly understand that command and how it applies to us, our lives and work in the kingdom of God will be greatly enhanced.

Allow me to offer you a single point of reference with which to begin your adventure into the ministry of angels.  Psalm 103:20 says, “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.  Read it closely.  Angels do whatever God has says to do, and they receive those commands by “hearkening unto the voice of His Word.”  When believers open their mouths and speak what God has said, covenant truth, angels are standing by to hear that spoken Word of God and they go to work, acting on that Word.  You and I have the written Word.  That Word is neither being added to or subtracted from.  And EVERY angel of God is standing by awaiting that Word being given voice.  And as God’s ambassador in the earth, having been given full authority to speak that truth in the Name of Jesus, you and I are the ones Father is calling upon to speak those Words.  Speak up in faith, my friend, speak up!
