Established Purpose

Let us not forget the truth of why Father sent Jesus to this world.

John 3:17 – For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Take a moment and read our Text for Today again.  Most Christians can quote John 3:16, and many can even quote verse 17.  Sadly, however, I have observed that many believers seem to have forgotten the meaning of verse 17.  My heart is truly saddened when I observe believers who seem to hold to an attitude that if someone does not believe precisely as they do, that such a person should be pushed aside, disregarded as a believer, and even castigated.  My friend, doctrinal issues over which so many are divided were never intended to cause such division, but were rather intended to give every believer a foundation upon which to stand and be well established as members of Father’s kingdom.

In the present time of the age in which we live, I urge you to choose to live in the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace.  Jesus was not sent into the world to condemn the world.  That is what our Text for Today plainly says.  Rather, He was sent that the world could be saved through Him.  Let us turn our focus from the politics of the day, from the racial (ethnic) divides that have destroyed so many human lives, from the international intrigues that hold so many people’s attention, and from the violence that has been loosed in so many American cities, leaving them is flames of destruction fed by greed, strife, and anger.

I am not saying that such things should be ignored, but that they should not be our focus.  I have discovered in my own life that the things that hold my focus are the things that get done, and get done well.  Dear reader, the violence, hatred, strife, and destruction that we see all about us is being done all too well.  It is because that is where our focus lies.  It’s time to turn our focus from these things and set is unwaveringly on our Lord Jesus Christ and the purpose to which He was sent.  When Jesus and Hid divine purpose becomes our determined focus, we will see that work being accomplished, and we will witness changes in the lives of many people.

I don’t expect the world to get better, but this I do know.  Evil men shall wax worse and worse, but where sin abounds, the grace of God much more abounds.  Father has a plan with an expected end.  He will not be denied that end, and as His children, we are part of that plan.  Set your focus in Jesus and His purpose, engage with it fully, and enjoy the blessings of it completely.
