Nahum 1:3 – The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
THE STORM INTO WHICH GOD SENDS YOU
Today we look into the first of four various kinds of storms. Our example today comes from the story of Noah. I’m sure you’re familiar with the story. The earth was extremely corrupt; sin was close to brining darkness upon everything. But God had a man named Noah, and Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They all had wives. God chose Noah and his family as the seed for the saving of humanity from the flood He was about to send upon the earth. This great storm that was about to come would obliterate life on earth. It was a Cleansing Storm. But there are characteristics of this storm that sets it apart from other storms. This was a storm that came from God, and into which God sent His called man. Let’s consider some of the major defining elements of such a storm.
- God forewarned His chosen people (Noah and his family)
- God gave His chosen people instructions for preparation for the storm
- Obedience to God’s instructions is an absolute must in order to be saved from the storm
- God provided all the means to rise above the storm
- God provided all the sustenance needed IN the storm
- God provided all the seed for life AFTER the storm
Keep in mind that God does not change. There may still be times in the life of mankind, the church, or even in your personal life, when Father would send such a storm for the purpose of removing from your life things that could overcome you, things too great for you to bear, things designed by the enemy of your soul to deprive you of the life of God and all its inherent blessings. If such things are within your God-given ability to overcome, you must use your faith. But if such things are beyond your ability to overcome, you may see a storm arise. Look closely, once again, at the defining elements I have shared to identify such a storm. Has Father forewarned you? Has He given you instructions as to what you are to do? Do certain responsibilities fall on your shoulders? Has Father shown you the means to rise above the storm? Is Father providing all you need IN the storm? Has Father provided all you need to rise up AFTER the storm? If so, you have no need to worry or fear. But you MUST be obedient. Father will provide you the ark you need, but you must be IN the ark. There is NO safety OUTSIDE the ark.
