Forgiveness – Part 18

Let’s prepare ourselves to sign the picture we’ve been painting.  It will become your self-portrait.

Mark 11:25-26 – And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.  But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

So, where are we?  An offense has come to you for which you need forgive someone.  Step One: declare war; make your declaration of forgiveness; release your faith to go to war; release the offender you’re your declaration of forgiveness; make sure you are in alignment with the Word of God (Sword of the Spirit).  Step Two: charge faith in the work of forgetting the offence; release the offence and carry it not one step further; capture every thought of the offence and bring it into captivity to the obedience of Christ.  Step Three: forget that you had to forgive; it is not enough to merely capture and remove every thought of the offence; every thought of the offence and the offender MUST be replaced with righteous thought; speak that righteous thought, sowing it into your spirit; remember, what you sow, you WILL reap.

At this point we have come through three progressive steps in the process of forgiveness.  It will work if you apply the principles of faith.  The Word of God MUST have first place and final authority in your speaking, action, and thought.  Just as Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, so He (the Word made flesh) must be in this process.  Give no place to Satan.  He is defeated and none of his weapons formed against you can prosper.  You are more than a conqueror in Christ.  You are an overcomer in Him.  And when you have given Jesus (the Word) first place and final authority, fill every place in between with the Word of God.   Nothing else can replace the Word.  It is your Sword of the Spirit.  It builds your faith (the Shield).  It girds your loins (the Truth).  It reveals your righteousness (your Breastplate).  It shods your feet (the Gospel of Christ).  Remember, you are in a war; you need the whole armor of God in this fight.  It will require as strong a faith level as you have ever known or used.

Let nothing deter you from this process.  Follow through with it daily.  Guard your thoughts, they become your words.  Guard your words, they become your actions.  Guard your actions, they become your habits.  Guard your habits, they become your character.  Guard your character, it becomes your legacy.  This walk will enable you to walk free of all strife, that being one of the most dangerous places in which any believer can be, regardless of your knowledge or maturity.  Strife is a killer.  Fight the good fight of faith.
