1 Peter 5:6-7 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
John 14:12-14 declares that we shall do greater works than Jesus did because He went to the Father. That is the will of God. 3 John 2 declares that above all else, God wants us to prosper and be in health. I plead with you today that you not allow another day to end living satisfied with just knowing you would go to heaven if you died. My friend, our God has and desires much better than that for you.
Have you ever read a story in a book or magazine, or viewed a documentary or movie that created a desire in you to experience what you saw or heard first-hand? I’m an avid reader, and what I’ve just described has happened to me many times. I’ve read about places like Alaska, Hawaii, African locations, and more. Such reading was fascinating, but none of the reading was like actually going to those places and seeing them for myself. You can read all you want about animals, but being up close and personal goes beyond all the reading. This same truth applies to my reading of the most exciting book ever printed – the Bible. I’ve read about the mighty working of our God, believed it, and build my faith upon it. But there is nothing like living it personally. I’ve read about the blind seeing, the deaf hearing, cripples walking, all kinds of bodily ailments being cured, and the dead being raised. Reading about it and hearing it preached build faith in my heart.
But when I saw it with my own eyes, and especially at those times when the Lord has used me as His vessel to do the work has taken me to a much higher level of joy in the thrill of being used by God to do supernatural works that can only come through Him. I have seen all those things I spoke of earlier, and what’s more, I’ve had the thrill of having the Lord use me to perform them. No, I am not boasting or bragging. I am giving the honor and glory to my God, for it was Him working through me for those things to be accomplished. I am deeply honored that the Lord would use me in such a way. But I also know that had I not read and studied His Word, believed His Word, made myself available to Him in doing His Word, and then walked in obedience to His Word that none these things would have ever taken place in my life. Again, I plead with you to prepare yourself for these things, and more, by giving yourself to the Word of God, believing that Word, obeying that Word, and expecting that Word to be fulfilled in your life. Prepare yourself for promotion, and do so faithfully.
