Take a Walk – Part 2

There are times in life when you simply need to take a walk

Cool of the Day

Genesis 3:8 – And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

The Scriptures declare that God made man in His Own image.  There was a purpose for that.  Father wanted a class of being like unto Himself with whom He could share His love and fellowship, and to whom He could delegate His full authority in the earth.  That was the man He had made in His Own image.  Now look closely at our Text for Today.  At this point in time following the renovation of the earth, both the man and the woman were living in the garden of Eden.  They were living the perfect life in a world untainted by sin.  Surely, this was not the first time that the Lord GOD came to them in the garden in the cool of the day.  You see, our God never changes.  Our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  In the New Testament, He commands that we pray (commune with Him) without ceasing.  That means, we don’t just commune with God when we have a need.  We commune with Him at all times, not only because He meets our needs, but because we love Him.  Since God doesn’t change, then it must have been His will to commune continually with His man in the garden.  Note, too, that it was the cool of the day.  The believer must learn the joy of communing with the Lord when it’s about enjoyment and fellowship, not just petition and supplication.

But look at HOW it was that Father came to commune with Adam.  God came “walking.”  To “walk with” someone has several strong implications.  In speaks strongly to clear communication, speaking with one another, sharing in thoughts, ideas, plans, and will.  It speaks of forward movement, of going some place together to which you may not have before been, of traveling in step with one another.  It speaks to a movement that is not rushed, but of a communal pace in which one does not become winded because of a need to rush, or run.  It speaks of an existence of peaceful covenant in which each covenant partner shares in full benefits established in the covenant.  All my covenant partner (the Lord Jesus Christ) possesses is at my disposal, and all I have is at His.  Our present life in this earth should be the garden restored to us.  We have been born again into His image, we have been authorized with full power of attorney to use His Name, we have received Holy Ghost to guide us into all truth, and we are to WALK in the Spirit, WALK in love (obedience to His Word), and WALK before Him, being holy as He is holy, and this at all times.
