True anointing CANNOT be separated from our Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Luke 4:18-19 – The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Take a moment as you begin to read today’s Second Miler and open your Bible to Exodus 30, and there read verses 22-38. That passage describes the anointing oil that was to be used in the holy services of the Tabernacle. The special anointing oil of the Tabernacle was made from pure beaten olive oil and certain spices. It was comprised in the following measures.
- Pure beaten olive oil – an hin (about six quarts, or one and one-half gallons in volume) – 12 pounds
- Myrrh – 500 shekels – 12.56 pounds (represents Father God)
- Cinnamon –250 shekels – 6.28 pounds (represents Jesus, the Son of God)
- Calamus – 250 shekels – 6.28 pounds (represents Jesus, the Son of God)
- Cassia – 500 shekels – 12.56 pounds (represents Holy Ghost)
That is a total of 49.68 pounds. (Could you call that a “heavy anointing?” Just a thought).
When you look closely at the weight of the various spices, you will see that the combined weight of the cinnamon and calamus is 500 shekels. With that calculation, you see the full, and equal, representation of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost in the anointing oil. With the oil and its ability to permeate the skin and its pores, and the combined aromas of the four spices, finely crushed and a filling the oil, imagine the aroma that would be on the person upon that anointing oil was poured. And it would likely be there for days, having been absorbed into the pores of that person’s skin.
This would be the oil of anointing for Israel’s kings, priests, and prophets. This aroma of anointing would be clearly noticeable upon anyone having been anointed by it, and it was likewise completely unique. Nothing else like it existed. It was to be used ONLY as the Lord directed. What I am emphasizing in sharing this with you is that while different anointings may fall to the particular administration of one member of the God-head (Father God and the motive gifts of Romans 12; the Lord Jesus and the five-fold ministry of Ephesians 4; Holy Ghost and the gifts of the Spirit of 1 Corinthians 12), the fullness of any anointing carries with it the full weight and authority of the full God-head; Father, Son, Holy Ghost, for They are ALWAYS in COMPLETE agreement. And when you combine the potential impact of anointing with the fixed standing of an unchangeable covenant, the outcome can only be called supernatural. Selah
