My friend bore everything I should have carried so I could have all He could give.
He Is My Healer
Text for Today – Proverbs 18:24 – A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
When Father first made man, He made him perfect and completely healthy. Nothing of sickness or disease existed. And Father, Jehovah God, because He knows the end from the beginning, set in motion an eternal plan that would assure His people of divine health. However, that assurance does not just happen. We have a covenant with our God, and as such, we carry certain responsibilities. Those responsibilities can be summed up in one statement by the Lord; love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.
So, let me tell you about my Friend, my Healer. His Name is Jesus. Take a few moments of your time and read the Manna for Today passages. I know there are several of them, but how much is your health worth to you? I believe you would find such a short investment of time to be well worth your while in physical health and total well-being.
When Jesus paid-in-full for our redemption, what He purchased was eternal. Nothing of Jesus or His work is temporary. His redemptive payment was for ALL of you for ETERNITY. The new birth (being born again) was for eternity. Your capacity to have a renewed mind was for eternity. On the day you received your salvation, you received your healing, and it was forever. And having received your healing, were then healthy. Dear reader, there is a great difference is healing and living healthy. The health that became yours when you were healed was forever. So, if we fully consider the fact that we have been redeemed from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13), then for the believer, it is not that we need healing, but that we need restoration of that which Satan has stolen from us after we were redeemed. And Satan certainly does steal from God’s children. Whether by our ignorance of our rights and responsibilities in Christ, or our failure to exercise those same rights and responsibilities, or Satan’s blatant attempts to “steal, kill, and destroy” our lives, the enemy of our souls steal from us at every opportunity. My friend, if a thief breaks into my house and steals something I hold precious, when he is caught, I want what was stolen returned. I’m not looking for a replacement. This is not auto insurance. A car can be replaced, but a priceless treasure cannot. Health, my friend, is a priceless treasure for which Jesus has paid-in-full, and ONLY He, my Friend, my Healer, can restore it when the enemy steals any portion of it.
