He Is My Provision
Text for Today – Proverbs 18:24 – A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
So, tell me. What do you need today? I’m not asking about anything in the realm of healing, health, protection, or deliverance. I am referring to provision. What do you need today in the arena of food, clothing, shelter, or financial provision? I’m not asking to infer or imply in any way that I can be your supply or our source, but I have a Friend Who can. His Name is Jesus.
Never fail to remember the Word of the Lord as it regards our needs in this life. In the model of prayer Jesus gave to us, one of the petitions of that prayer is “give us this day our daily bread.” Just as the Lord provided manna for the children of Israel and quail for them in the wilderness, saw that their clothing never wore out in the wilderness, used angels to provide food for Elijah, multiplied the meal and oil for the widow of Zarephath, multiplied bread and fish on two occasions to feed two different multitudes of people, money in a fish’s mouth for taxes, turned water to wine, and provided a ram in the thicket for Abraham as a sacrifice, and so much more, our unchanging God will yet to the same for His people today. And this does not speak to the matter of provided to us the desires of our hearts.
I do not have the space in this, or even a multitude of Second Miler writings to testify of how often my Friend, Jesus, has provided my needs and desires. On a daily basis I live without any anxiety that my needs and those of my family will be abundantly supplied because I have walked in obedience to His Word as it applies to the basic laws of reciprocity. Nor is there sufficient space to address the multitude of times He has gone far and above the laws of reciprocity to meet my needs, especially in the arena of ministry in the many phases through which I have walked in over fifty years of walking in the five-fold ministry. Day-in and day-out, my Friend, Jesus, has shown Himself to be completely and unfailingly faithful to His Word. In the past few years of my life, I have so frequently brought to remembrance the great truth that was spoken of old, “I have never seen the righteous forsaken, or His seed begging bread.” Truly the faithfulness of our great God is absolute. It surely has been to me. How thankful I am to my Friend, my Provider, Jesus, Who has never failed me at any time.
