Go Wash

Obedience in action is key, but so is WHERE you are to obey.

Text for Today – John 9:7 – . . . Go wash in the pool of Siloam . . .

I am sure that at some time you have gotten some type of foreign particle in your eye.  Do you remember the irritation?  I was once working on a piece of machinery when someone accidentally reversed the machine.  Suddenly my face was blasted with flying dust and grit, filling by eyes with debris.  It was tormenting to me, and I felt utterly helpless.  I was totally disoriented, could see nothing, and the pain was terrible.  One of my co-workers grabbed a water bottle and began flushing my eyes with it immediately.  The relief was indescribable.

Can you imagine the man in whose eyes Jesus rubbed the grit of the earth mixed with His saliva?  It was bad enough to have my own eyes filled with dust and fine grit, but I cannot imagine how it would have felt to have it rubbed into my eyes.  Though the man was blind, his eyeballs were still sensitive to the touch, and the irritation must have seemed like anguish.  He could     have allowed the tears that came naturally to slowly alleviate the irritation, but instead, he (a blind man) obeyed the command of Jesus and sought the pool of Siloam in which to wash.  Obedience brought sight.

How do you feel when you realize you have been blinded to the truth of Gd’s Word in some area, and because of that blindness, you have been robbed of blessings from the Lord?  How do you feel  when it is suddenly exposed in your life?  Does it irritate you?  Does it make you uncomfortable?  It certainly does me.

So, what do you do about it?  What is your response to an encounter with the Word when it creates that kind of irritation in your spiritual eyes?  Do you just rub your eyes and cry until the tears make you feel better?  Or do you go wash in the Water of the Word until you see clearly?  While crying may relieve the irritation, washing is what is more needful.  And if it means the complete recovery of your sight, washing in the place you are told to wash is critical indeed.

Hear the Word of the Lord, my friend, and go to the Word of God daily. Wash your eyes with the water of the Word of God so you can come seeing.  The spiritual sight (and insight, or revelation) brought by washing daily in the Word of God allows us to live and move in the supernatural arena of faith, thus pleasing our heavenly Father.  If you haven’t already done so, go wash today.  And keep in mind, the Lord may have a specific place in mind for that washing.  If He tells you to go to a specific church, or ministry, or person, no other place or person will work.  Remember, it was obedience that brought sight.
