What Father has put it you, He wants to see shine through you.  But it must be stirred.

Text for Today – 2 Timothy 1:6 – Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee . . .

When the Apostle Paul wrote these words to Timothy, he was referring to a specific gift in Timothy about which he had personal knowledge, and it was imparted specifically to Timothy by the “laying on of hands.”  This was obviously very precious to Paul, and certainly was to Timothy who had received the gift.

But in today’s Second Miler, I am writing to you about any and every special gift the Lord has imparted into your life, regardless of the manner of impartation.  First of all, every gift from God is good and to be considered precious.  Every gift from God is perfect, and as such should be treasured and honored.  But if you do not honor the gifts the Lord has placed in you, how can you expect others to honor them?  So often in life, it is the person who does not respect himself that is disrespected by the people about him.

NOW is the time for you to stir up the gift that God has placed in you.  You CANNOT afford to sit by and hide that beautiful gift, that prized and perfect gift God has placed in you.  Remember, the gift God gave you is perfect.  You may not act or live that way, yet, but the gift is perfect.  Stir it up in your life.  When you buy paint, before you use it, you generally stir it.  Why?  The answer is that you want consistency of color throughout the paint, so you don’t end a job with a multi-toned surface.  When you’re cooking, you often stir the dish you are preparing in order to create a consistency of flavor and/or texture throughout the dish.

The same is true in your life.  God has made each of us absolutely unique.  He has placed in each of us gifts, or anointings, that should be stirred into our entire being, flavoring, or coloring every aspect of our life to create consistently holy, righteous, and powerful living in Him.  We need to give ourselves totally to Him and His purpose and plan for our life.  God has placed gifts in you for His divine purpose.  Fulfill His purpose and you will have He excellent favor.  Please Him and He will please you.  Involve yourself in serving and loving Him with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.  Through that, you will find that His gift in you saturates your entire being, making your whole person, and your whole life available to Him.  It’s up to you, dear friend, so get busy stirring.
