Use Your Seasons Well

God has established them, but it’s up to you to use them well with His Wisdom.

Text for Today – Genesis 8:22 – While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

One of the paramount teachings of Jesus dealt very strongly with the issue of “seedtime and harvest.”  In fact, Jesus said the whole kingdom of God operated on the seed principle, and of course, we know that the seed principle has as one of its integral components the “seedtime and harvest” principle.  In Ecclesiastes we read that there is a time (or a season) to plant, and one to harvest.  As we examine the system God Himself implemented upon the earth and its inhabitants, we understand there are four seasons, with the simple breakdown being . . . . .

  • Spring – for plowing and planting
  • Summer – for growing, cultivating, and watering
  • Fall – for harvesting
  • Winter – for enjoying the harvest and planning for the coming spring

God said this would be the course of nature as long as the earth remains.  Well, that same principle is found throughout the course of our lives.  For every arena of life, we encounter seasons.  The wise farmer knows what to do during certain seasons to get the best possible use from that season, as well as to provide for himself and his family year-round.  As believers, we should learn and use the same wisdom in each of life’s arenas, spirit, soul, body, domestically, professionally, financially, and socially.  Father has set the law of seasons into motion.  Regardless of the arena of life, the seasons are in place.  For the believer, the Father has determined that you will have enough time during each season you face to do the necessary work of that season so you live in victory, and have all the necessary provision for yourself in all things at all times.  So, use your seasons well.

If you’re in a battle right now, perhaps for your health, you’re in a winter season.  Cheer up, spring in coming, and with it a refreshing by Holy Spirit.  It is the spring rain to prepare you for plowing and planting.  When you refreshing has come, use your spring wisely to pray, preparing your heart for the Word), and planting the Word in your heart.  Next, summer will arrive.  Guard your fields, keep the fowls away, the weeds cut, and your crops well-watered during summer heat.  Holy Ghost is about to bring the latter rain of refreshing to you, preparing for the fall harvest of the Word you have planted.  And it won’t return void.  Of course, winter is coming again.  That means another physical attack on your health.  But if you’ve used your seasons well, your barns will be full, and you can rest in the comforting of Holy Ghost, and be fully prepared to walk in victory over any attacks the enemy levels against you.
