A Certain Outcome

It’s great to know you’re the winner before the fight ever starts.

Text for Today – Joshua 1:8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make they way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

One of the greatest ongoing quests in life today is for the kind of stability that offers one a level of security that tends to certainty in the outcome of life’s endeavors.  I have often heard people talk about things they would do in life if they could be assured of the outcome.  Well, I have the answer for you if you are one of those folks.  It’s in our Text for Today

Look at the conclusion of this verse.  “YOU shall make YOUR way prosperous, and then YOU shall have good success.”;  Please note that the responsibility for having outcomes of certainty, and knowing in advance they will happen is up to YOU.  You see, God has already done His part.  He has given us His Word, His power, to get the job done.  “So, how can I achieve this life of certain outcomes?” you ask.  The answer is in the first part of our Text for Today.

“This book of the Law” is the Word of God.  Read it, study it, meditate upon it, and speak it continually.  Let nothing contrary to it come out of your mouth.  Remember, Jesus said that YOU justify or condemn YOURSELF by the words that proceed from your mouth.  In short, living and walking in the day-to-day blessings of God is up to YOU.  God has given YOU the power to control YOUR own destiny, a destiny He has filled with His blessings.  Yes, He has saved YOU and called YOU His own.  Yes, He has a plan for YOUR life, and a call in YOUR life of what He desires YOU to do.  But your success in that plan and calling is in YOUR own hands.

YOU must believe His Word is a clear statement of His will for YOUR life.  Believing that, YOU must choose to agree with what the Lord has said about YOU, and then be obedient to Him and bold enough to say about YOURSELF what He has already said about YOU.  YOUR future is not in your hands.  It’s in YOUR mouth.  Don’t take today’s Second Miler and use it to make YOURSELF overly important.  But at the same time, don’t allow traditions of religious thinking cause YOU to think less of YOURSELF than YOU ought.  Just speak the Word.  YOU can’t go wrong there.
