Be Not Weary

Weariness is never in God’s plan for you.  If you’re weary, examine your steps.

Text for Today – Galatians 6:9 – And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Take a close look at our Text for Today once again.  This is not a suggestion, but a commandment.  I remember years ago hearing an anointed servant of the Lord define commandment as “an order from God about which there is no choice, and from which there is no turning.”  That has stuck with me and served me well.  I have come to appreciate the commandments of the Lord as a means of true freedom and blessing, and never as a restrictive measure to keep me from enjoying life.  In our Text for Today, the command is to “not be weary in well doing.”

I have discovered two things that must be a daily and substantial part of my life if I am to keep this commandment.  They are the Word of God and prayer.  The Word of God is “spirit and life” to me.  It is my source of revelation, healing, provision, deliverance, and soundness.  The Word never fails, and since it is the Word of God (John 1:1) Who cannot lie, the Word itself is absolutely true and can be NO lie.  For that I am so thankful to the Lord.  The Word of God is absolute truth, never changing, never failing, and its entrance into my life always brings light.  It is, therefore, never deceiving or shady.  With the Word, I always know where I stand, and by faith in that Word, I know I can ALWAYS stand.  The Word of God is my supernatural clothing (the whole armor of God), provided to me by my Lord.    And I know that my God is upholding all things by the “Word of His power.”  And I am one of those “all things” that He is upholding.  I must always remember that without faith, I cannot please God, and that the faith I need to please Him comes from hearing the Word of God.

Then we come to prayer.  Jesus said that if I always prayed, I would not faint.  If I wear the whole armor of God, which is the prayer armor for the saints, then I know I can stand in any circumstance, being upheld by Holy Spirit.  I know that when I pray, particularly when I pray in the Holy Ghost, I am edifying myself; building myself up on my most holy faith.  And knowing that God always hears and grants my petitions when I pray according to His will, my spirit man is excited about entering into prayer, and DOES NOT consider it a wearisome labor with uncertain results, but enters into prayer knowing its remarkable and miraculous potential, thanking God for it before it is manifest in the natural.
