Keys are for more than hanging on your belt and trying to look important.

Text for Today – Matthew 16:19 – And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Keys; guards have them, prisoners don’t; custodians have them, shoppers don’t; the trusted have them; the untrusted don’t.  God has given us the keys of the kingdom of heaven.  He must consider us the guards, the keepers, the custodians, His trusted ones.

Now keep in mind, WE have been given the keys.  I have never read  where the Lord took them back.  If we don’t unlock it, who will?  If we don’t lock it, who will?  If we don’t loose it, who will?  If we don’t bind it, who will?  If we don’t put it into captivity, who will?  The authority has been placed in our hands – it is up to us – it is our choice!

Think about the supreme level of authority and power the Lord has bestowed upon His children.  You have been given the power of attorney to use the mighty Name of Jesus in any circumstance you encounter in life.  We have been given the authority in His Name to cast out devils, to lay hands on the sick for their recovery, and even to enter directly into the heavenly Holy of holies, coming directly to the throne of grace.  These are more than promises of the Lord to us.  They are settled conditions to which He expects us to rise and live.

Once again, we hold the keys.  And once again, this is indescribable power that has been released to us.  Does God expect you to be obedient to His commands?  Absolutely!  They why should we not expect Him to be absolutely faithful to His Word?  Well, He is.  When we touch our God in faith, He always responds with the fullness of His Word in manifestation.  Faith pleases Him, and when He is pleased, He pleases us.  It is, after all, His good pleasure to give us His kingdom.

So, pick up your keys and get busy.  As a guard, keep locked away that which would steal, kill, and destroy what God has given you.  As a keeper, keep safe that which has been entrusted to you.  As a custodian, tend well to and use well that which has been placed in your care.  As His trusted child, obey His Word, carry out His will, and in so doing, use wisely the gift of His keys He has made to you.
