Encountering His Presence – Part One

The presence of God is real, always needed, and ever to be desired.

Text for Today – Exodus 3:14 – And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM:  and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you

King David asked, “Whither shall I go from Your Spirit?”  David understood, at least to some degree, a truth you and I find promised in the Word.  Our Lord is with us always, never forsaking us.  He is indeed omnipresent; everywhere present at all times.  So, with this being the case, why are we not encountering His presence far more frequently?  I believe the answer lies in the following points.

We need to accept His reality.  There is more hard, written testimonial evidence of His existence and works that there is that Charles Darwin ever existed.  Consider His impact on the world.  An unreal, farcical entity could not possibly have had His impact on the world scene of today.  Consider the lives of the people you personally know, including yourself, on whom His existence has had a markedly powerful impact.

We need to accept His Lordship.  He is, as one man of God has spoken, “either Lord OF all, or He is not  Lord AT all.”  Once again, all we need to do is examine the evidence.  Consider for a moment your own life.  in how many ways has Jesus shown Himself Lord in your behalf, and sometimes even despite you?  Space would not permit me the opportunity to even begin to tell of His demonstrations of Lordship in my life; healing, deliverance, divine provision, and the miraculous, even to the raising of the dead.

We need to accept His love.  It is a REALITY.  Once again, His impact on the world is undeniable.  He is the only person ever to leave a last will and testament, die in order to put it into effect, and then be raised from the dead to be the executor of that will, thus assuring the accuracy of its execution to those who will receive it.

And one more thing today.  We must learn to practice His presence.   If you are going to compete as a swimmer in the next summer Olympics, what would you currently be doing?  You would be in training for your event.  If you were invited to a Presidential ball where you would be required to dance with one of the dignitaries, what would you do before the ball?  You would learn to dance, and you would practice what you learned.  Well, my friend, you have been invited to come into the presence of the Great God Jehovah at a time of your choosing.  Knowing that He is ever with you, what then should you be doing?  Practicing His presence.
