All the Way

Don’t settle for just a taste when you can enjoy the whole meal.

Text for Today – John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

When I was growing up, especially during my pre-teen years, eating out was a special treat; a rarity in fact.  I remember that on Sunday after church, I would be excited by going to a little drive-in hotdog stand right across the street from our local airport, ordering hotdogs and a soda, and watching airplanes take off and land.  And when one of those planes happened to be a DC-3, what a thrill!  I remember learning to enjoy the unique taste of those hotdogs the way my dad would order them.  It was a simple order; ALL THE WAY.  That meant he wanted his hotdog with all the standard trimmings; chili, mustard, slaw, and onions.

Today, it would seem that the church of the Lord Jesus has either acquired a taste for, or has in many cases, come to believe, that salvation is something less than God intended it to be.  They want salvation, but they seem satisfied just to know they’re going to heaven and missing hell.  Now don’t misunderstand what I’m saying.  I am absolutely thrilled to know I am going to heaven and will miss hell.  That’s quite an offer the Lord has for us.  But that’s a final destination.  What about all the time between now and then.  Is all I received in my salvation the knowledge that I am going to heaven and not hell?  Is there nothing between now and then to enjoy?

Yes, I know I’m being a bit drastic in my description, but think about it.  My God has provided so much more in the salvation He designed for us.  He has provided total healing and health, deliverance from ALL temporal evil, provision of all needs, prosperity, a renewed mind that has the potential to think like Jesus would think, the power of His Spirit and all the accompanying gifts, revelation of His Word and the faith it brings, the fruit of the spirit, and so much more.  All of this is available to anyone who is in Christ Jesus through the wonderful work of salvation.  Now that’s the way to live.

If you haven’t already done so, take some time today, my friend, and read the whole menu of what is available to those who choose salvation in Christ.  Read that menu, the Bible, closely, and then be bold enough to step up to God’s counter and order SALVATION . . . ALL THE WAY!  It tastes GREAT!
