Gifts, especially those to or from the Lord, should be handled in the highest regard.
Text for Today – Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
I’ll come straight to the point. How you handle, or treat, a gift is one of the clearest indicators of how you regard the giver of that gift. Most people appreciate a new gift. However, that appreciation can diminish as the gift gets older or wears out. Still, if a good relationship exists between the giver and receiver, the appreciation remains. And there are gifts, or tokens, of love that indicate a lifetime of treasured relationship. Such could be the case with an engagement or wedding ring. Have you ever watched how a young woman treats her engagement ring? As a rule, you see a clear indication of how she regards the man who will be her future husband.
How about you? How are you handling the wonderful gift of salvation? How are you handling the gift of Holy Spirit? How are you handling the gifts of the five-fold ministry the Lord has sent into your life to bless you and prepare you for excellence in ministry? How are you handling healing, deliverance, and provision, and all the other wonderful gifts and blessings from the Lord? Remember, the way you handle each of those gifts is one of the clearest indications of how you truly regard the Lord.
Are you living your life of salvation in Christ to the fullest? Are you daily feeding your new spirit man with the right spiritual food of God’s Word? Are you making place daily for Holy Spirit and your anointings to teach you and have freedom to lead you in your walk with the Lord? Are you being obedient to Him? Are you utilizing your health and all the other rich blessings of the Lord to honor the Lord and enrich His kingdom?
Oh, and there is another powerfully clear indicator of your love for someone. It’s not how you honor the gift received, but the honor in the gift you give. So, how honorably do you treat the gifts the Lord has placed in your life? And how honorable are the gifts you offer to Him?
