At the Point of Death

In Christ, the “point of death” is only another “mile marker” on life’s road.

Text for Today – Mark 5:23 – And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

In this present world, neither you nor I will know how often we have been at the “point of death.”  Many of us may know a few times when we were aware of that “point.”  A few of us may be aware of being there many times.  But NONE of us will know all the times.  I am confident that many times during any given day, only the Lord or His angels stand between us and the “point of death.”

As in our Text for Today, He is always near at the “point of death.”  Jairus’ daughter was at that “point,” and Jairus besought Jesus to come and heal her.  Unlike many who may fear death, Jesus is absolutely fearless.  And with Him in your heart, and with faith in Him, you can and should be the same way; absolutely fearless.  When you study our Text for Today, we find Jesus directly addressing this issue with Jairus.  Even after Jairus hears his daughter has died, Jesus said, “Be not afraid, only believe.”

You see, with Jesus, it’s not too late even PAST the “point of death.”  He raised Lazarus, He raised the widow of Nain’s son, and He raised Jairus’ daughter.  He kept Daniel from the lions, the Hebrew children from the flames, the children of Israel from the Egyptian army, and Peter from the stormy sea.  All these were at the “point of death.”  And He can, will, and does keep you; from that auto accident, from that work related injury, from that contagious disease, from that life-threatening sickness, and from that financial disaster and ruin.

Rest in Him, saint of God.  You cannot be so close to the “point of death” that He cannot save you; even if you’re already past it, He can bring you back to fulfill your vision and call in life.  If He has work for you to do, and you have been and continue faithful, He will keep you at every “point of death.”  Whether known to you, or only to Him, He will keep you at every “point of death.”
