Consider with serious intent what you are sowing into your spirit.
Text for Today – Genesis 2:8 – And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
You already know the story. God has finished His renovation of the earth. He has planted the garden of Eden, and there He placed His man. He placed His man there to have a perfect living environment, to multiply and replenish the earth, and to subdue the earth and have dominion over it.
And once again, you already know the story. In the garden were all manner of trees for food and well as to beautify the garden. But two trees in particular became the focus of the Lord’s instruction to man. He could eat of the fruit of any of the trees of the garden, including the tree of life. But of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, man was NOT to eat. Ah, but alas, the man disobeyed God and ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and so began the struggle of mankind in a fallen world. Then God drove man from the garden, and blocked His way of return to the tree of life.
But what has that to do with today? I’m glad you asked. Today, you have a choice before you. Just as Adam had to determine what he ate, you must determine what you will hear. In both cases, the issue of spiritual food. The tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden were more than physical foods. They were spiritual foods. What you hear with your ears is your spiritual diet. So tell me, what are you hearing; what is it that you are spiritually consuming. It’s growing in your garden. So how does your garden grow?
When you determine to feed your spirit man on the Word of God, you are feeding yourself from the tree of life. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life. Life is in the power of the tongue. The Word of God is life to those who find it. The Word of God is spirit and it is life. But when you allow your spirit man to be fed on the language of the world; words that breed fear, doubt, unbelief, and would pull you away from the truth of God’s Word, you are feeding your spirit man on the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And it will still do to you today what it did to Adam. It will cause death. For the born again, Spirit filled believer to feed his spirit on the world is to feed death into his spirit. So, stop right where you are and determine which tree you are feeding into your spirit. Make sure it is the Word of God. Choose life, so that you and your seed may live.
