Sounds of the Season

More important than the season of our year is the season of eternity in which we now live.

Text for Today – Ecclesiastes 1:9 – The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

No, I’m not talking about sleigh bells, carols, and the sights and sounds around the season of His first advent, nor at dyed eggs and blossoms of spring.   Look closely at our foundation Text for Today.  It holds incredible significance for this hour.  Here is what I’m saying today.

At the nativity of Jesus, at His birth, there were factions of government that wanted to end His life as early as possible.  They would like to see it end with the proclamation of His birth.  There was the sound of angels proclaiming His birth in the heavens, saying “glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will toward men.”  Shepherds came to His birthplace in the stable to worship Him.  Wise men sought Him, bringing gifts of enormous value that would see Him through His early life with full provision; nothing lacking.  And in the temple could be found a Simeon and an Anna, whose faithfulness put them in a place to see His coming in the flesh TO His people, and their testimonies bore out the fact that they had heard and believed the prophecies all their lives.

And so it shall be again, my dear friend, so, it shall be again.  And I believe it will be in my lifetime that those same kinds of sounds are heard.  In fact, some have already been heard.  Even in America, there are factions of national, state, and local governments that would like to remove Christ and His church from existence.  Before the coming of Christ for His church, there will indeed be greater and more significant manifestations of angelic ministry and activity in the earth.  The Bible declares it will happen.  As a minister of the Gospel, I am witnessing among fellow ministers an increasing desire to live and walk a deeper life in the Lord; true men and women of God in the body of Christ are moving to a deeper worship of the Lord.  Wise men still seek Him, and the wisest of the wise are now, and will in the days ahead, bring gifts of unimaginable worth for the building of His kingdom in these last days.  And in the temple, the body of Christ, are now living aged saints who, for many years, have spoken of His coming, and are themselves intently looking for Him.  With all my heart I believe that the Lord will not allow all of them to be disappointed.  Some will be alive to greet Him with a shout at His coming FOR His church.

So, dear Second Miler, listen up.  The sounds are already in the air.  Jesus is coming, and I believe right soon. Listen!  Did you hear that?
